Within the last few days I have taken possession of a New Ford Ka Zetec. I have had two of these models previously and no problems and was expecting the new Zetec to be the same. Each of thes cars had underseat storage space under the front passenger seat, very handy, the new car has not got this storage space, Ford have done away with it.which is their right, however, no indication from the dealer nor in the glossy booklet, it has simply not been mentioned,. The single line of smallprint which was in the previous boolet, page 45, which referred to this storage space has been ommited from the latest booklet

This is a little sneaky on Ford's part and the amount of storage space is minimul. Two tiny door pockets and the glove box and that's it. When I bought this car I was expecting it to be at the very least the equal of the previous two I had but no it has less.I repeat very Sneaky Ford Read more

Are you comparing the latest shape Ka (Fiat 500) with the old shape rust bucket made by Ford? Or are you pointing out Ford have changed the seat type on the current Ka model on zetec trim?...

Hi there,

I've got a '07 Focus and it's often loosing power. Sometimes it's fine and runs perfectly (usually when it's cold). But quite often I get no power when I accelerate (usually around 2-2.5 revs). Occasionally, if I back off the throttle then it picks up, but mostly if it misses, it feels like it's flooding. If I keep the revs down, it runs perfectly. It's otherwise running smoothly, no unusual noises or leaks; no warning lights.

I'm not a mechanic (of any sort!), but this all sounds like a problem with the turbo. The fact it's not all the time makes me think it's not the turbo itself. And, obviously, I'd prefer not to pay to have the turbo replaced if it's something minor.

So, my questions (I'm trying to be specific!) are:
Can I do anything to diagnose it myself? By all means point me to another thread, I suspect this topic's been done to death.
Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in either Reading (where I work) or Oxford that they'd take it to?
Is there any risk of doing some serious damage driving it like this?

Thanks,
Geoff. Read more

As you say, it probably isn't a fault with the turbo itself.

The turbo is controlled by the ECU, which receives information from various engine sensors....

I have narrowed my choice to four cars. The Mistubishi Lancer 1.5 sportback - I have driven the saloon and found it good - but worried about negative reports of quality although there are many favourable reports. Suzuki SX4 - know HJ likes this -nearly bought one 2010 but was not too sure about the higher driving position. Also my local mechanic thought the photos of the engine showed too much pipe corrosion. More 'directly related' mechanics felt differently. The Auris I am going out tomorrow for a test drive - like the blue. The Mazda 3 MK1 is always in the background. Will go and see another Lancer on Monday 1.5 11 with about 25K.

I need to buy soon, and am going round in circles - any pointers would be gratefully recieved. ... Read more

Thanks for your reply. I have decided to go with the Toyota Auris - 2010 onwards if I can find one at a good price. I am going to have a test drive in one tomorrow at the local dealer. You are right about the comfort of the SX4. My daughter felt she was being tossed around a bit , when we did the test drive a couple of weeks ago - probably my driving....

Take backup before reprogramming.

Software was too big(forum limits), i removed it.

EDIT: Few members got Error "Unknow command.Software error" How know why....?

EDIT2: I added picture, how to connect another xprog for programming. Also need change fuse bits and lock bits. Pictures later. But those files maybe are bad. Need test more....

My rover 25 loses coolant sometimes. I filled it up to max using ready mixed coolant and the next day it was down to minimum overnight it disappeared. I checked the engine oil, golden brown no milky bits etc.have been monitoring this for two weeks now. I then filled it up again , overnight it went to midway between max and min. Then stayed at that level for 3 days and then all of a sudden went to min overnight. Does anyone know what is happening. If it was a head gasket problem, coolant would be lost instantly within 10 mins of driving. I did a test where I filled it up to max level drove car for an hour and then let it cool down for 2 hours. Coolant was still at max level. Then that same day I checked it before going to sleep and next day it was back to midway.

Any thoughts on this. One thing I did notice is the coolant always stays at the minimum mark. This is a bit odd how the coolant I pour in gets lost. The coolant I poured in is a pink colour compared to the blue coloured coolant already there. Read more

K-seal sometimes causes other problems as the waterways are very small on that

so getting job done properly is the best option, half a day at most to do and while the manifold is off replace thermostat as its just underneath and easier to get at
