Trying to put 2010 1.8 Petrol back on road, when i got the car it was missing the ECU (PCM) as had been damaged in crash i got a second-hand replacement 7M51-12A650-VC but are now lost have tried reprogramming using IDS and ELMconfig but filmware just wont write to the PCM in reality its just the VIN. Im think now is teh PCM the right Ford arent that helpful happy to sell me a new one but cant or wont tell me the one that was installed on the car originally. Are all the 7M51-12A650 ECU the same hardware with the VC being the filmware, If so should i be able to reflash the ECU with the lastest filmware for the car. Read more

Looks better than the present version, although that isn't difficult. Read more

It is rather similar to the Polo which is not surprising. The Polo from about 10 years ago is a lovely looking car. It has got uglier with each change. The current one has bloated bumpers and weird sides, probably due to safety rules. The Fabia is okay, rather bland and functional.,

So, I was coming down the A47 today, having a bit of a race with a focus, noticed that the car wasn't pulling as normal and it was struggling to reach 100!

I have had this issue for a while now and last week took the car to the dealer who connected it through diagnostics who did a software update. In addition, no error codes or anything else were registered. Technicials took it for a drive and recorded no problems

Took the car for its first long drive yesterday and the revs start to fluctuate ever so slightly once in a while. I also noticed a pattern where it always occurs when going down an incline. When this happened before I thought it was the DPF regenerating.... Read more

Any advice would be helpful Read more

Does the pedal operation return to normal when you pull it back up from the floor? If so this is a fairly common problem on VW and Audi models. I've had this many times before and I've often cured it by changing the fluid. Try that and if it's still the same then as the above poster says, it's a gearbox out job.

I would expect that since the master cylinder has been changed so has the clutch fluid.

Just a quick ?. On playing music from a USB stick which has over 900 tracks I have the problem of the USB indexing and starting from the beginning everytime I turn on the ignition. Is this normal for Ford as I know someone with a DS5 and that carries on from where it was when he turns the ignition off.

It's getting to be a pain.... Read more

It depends on the type of car/system.

Some USB sticks will only work with a maximum size of 16GB others will be OK at 128GB....

This weekend I rented a 1974 Interceptor III for a day. It’s been my fantasy car since I saw my first one in the metal as a 9-year-old: a wasp-yellow example at a local car dealer. It seemed to be on his forecourt for ages – probably because of the fuel crisis which was happening at the time, not to mention the purchase price, which was £7,200 in 1974 (equivalent to around £75,000 today).... I forgot to say that I did have a high speed ride in the back of a Jensen Interceptor SP once, as a passenger round a race circuit. So I did 'meet my hero' but that was a long time ago.

I agree - go for the 1.9. You should be able to get rear parking sensors fitted to an existing car.

The common-rail 2.0 TDI (2009 onwards) is more reliable than the earlier 2.0 PD, but the 1.9 still has less to go wrong. There are plenty around: unless you have to have an automatic, go for a manual which should be cheaper anyway.

Hi,

Been slowly losing water/coolant from the car for a short while. Engine heat gage doesn't change. No mayo under the oil cap. A closer look, and i see water pumping out of the right side of the front of the engine block when the engine is running. Can't see if it's from the gasket but does look lower than that. Water seems to be clear. ... Read more
