Test drove an '06 Fiesta today, 40k miles, 1.2 engine. Would appreciate more knowledgable opionion than mine...
BATTERY When I arrived, dealer mentioned having to charge the battery before bringing the car out the front. Should I be looking to deduct the cost of a new battery from price? Could anything else more serious be going on (the battery light went off OK when starting)?... Read more

It looks very much like an Austin AllegroI had exactly the same thought about the rear end of it. Glad it wasn't just me.
I think the Audi A1 five door looks more like an Allegro actually!...
I will only be using my car on the weekends as I have to work far away.
Shall I disconnect my negative terminal on my battery each week or leave the car as it is without disconnecting any terminals.I recently put a new battery in the car. The radio has been taken out. The clock resets itself on starting the ignition.
Any recommendations or advice much appreciated.
is there any damage to the vehicle that will be done from disconnecting the negative cable for 5 days each week?
If I leave the car as it without any disconnecting any terminals, what impact will this have on the battery?
Thanks Read more
No problem at all to leave battery disconnected. The only minor issue is that the engine ecu will forget its adaptive learn values, but a short drive will restore this function.
Hi All - The high pressure fuel pump seized when the car was being road tested by a local garage. They had the engine hooked up to diagnostic equipment at the time & I was told that it went into something called limp halt mode. They left the car on my drive as any garage repair was going to be expensive.
I've been repairing the engine in my spare time. The timing belt was chewed up and a rocker had snapped. I took the head off to check that the valve was still straight, which it was, and fitted a new head gasket and timing belt, along with a second hand fuel pump.... Read more
A few owners on peuegotforums.com have changed their own belts and had similar problems, it usually quite a simple fix. Have a search on their forum.
My header tank is going from high to low in a week, I looked under the front of the car and there is a coolant leak coming down from behind the oil filter, very slowly dripping off the oil filter.
My garage pressure tested the system to 1 bar and couldn't find a leak!... Read more
Hi,
I asked a second key to my dealer and once he had received the key he had to code the chip of the key, but that didn't succeed.... Read more
Hi guys looking for opinions on something.
I'm looking at buying a 1.3 cdti corsa and I've seen a few that are described as having a full service history, and when I've looked at this, the services have been done following the mileage of the car.
The service interval is every 20,000 miles for one of these and basically I've seen a few that have long time periods between services 2 or 3 years as they haven't been used that much. There hasn't been this long a gap between every service but I saw one model that was 6 years old and with 3 stamps in the book as it had only done 34k, but there was a gap of 3 years between the second and last service as it only covered 5k in that time. I test drove it and it drove lovely like others I'd driven.
Would you consider buying one of these or not bother due to the length of time between some services?
Many thanks. Read more
How will any amount of searching obviate some unscrupulous private individual with a dodgy car passing it on through the small ads.
Pay a little extra for a car from a dealer, the price margins are somewhat blurred with the internet levelling prices and expectations, and have some protection from the Sale of Goods Act. What recourse do you have buying from a respectable looking gent in tweed, cavalry twill and brogues when it all goes wrong?...
My 04 Navara sounds like it has a diesel knock when revved hard and has a sluggish pull but moves fast once it picks up. It starts quickly so cannot be a pump issue can it? Would anyone say that the injectors are the cause of this problem? Read more
Unfortunately there are other issues with that D22 model year Navarra other than a hosing or stuck injector that can cause an engine knock.
Have a look at this website...
I have a 2004 Citroen Dispatch and the dash lights have stopped working.
I have checked the bulbs and they seem okay.
Is there a fuse for these (I have no manual to refer to).
Also the odometer has stopped working but I'm assuming this is down tho the lights as I understand it is backlit.
Any help would be appreciated.

The backlight to the computer display has failed so it' s difficult to read the LCD characters - can anyone advise if the backlighting bulbs on the display module are replaceable.
Thanks in advance... Read more
Thanks for that - now I know it's worth the trouble of taking out the instrument panel.
Cheers

You have to be very lucky these days to find a really good motor,I`ve been looking for someone else and not found anything thats not got any problems, though the prices are top notch and nobody will drop to rectify the problems or even fix for the sale
