hi all hope someone can put me in the right direction..ive got a 2001 lx 1.6 citroen xsara picasso,i got it motd and it had 2 advisories, both being the balljoints,on my 2001 lx model i had to get the full wishbones as the balljoints are intergrated on them. i got them both changed and the car was as smooth as ice, then all of a sudden when im driving the car it sounds like a bag of spanners. what i mean is that its very rattlelly on the front end. ive had the wishbones checked over again to make sure all the connercting nuts are tight and they are.im just wondering if the droplinks or the anti roll bar bushes may need changing. the car runs great just that its very rattley from the front end. anyway any suggestions welcome..thanks. Hi
I am a complete layperson in relation to cars. The engine light has been on for a few weeks and there hasn't been a lot of power in the car which has only be noticeable on motorway journeys in relation to acceleration. We thought the service would tell us the issue. The garage we went to didn't have the diagnostic equipment. The MOT failed on the Lambda reading (it was 1.34) but the garage say they don't know what the issue is and we have to go to vauxhall dealer to get diagnostics run to discover problem. Is this correct or should they have at least had an idea what the issue was. Does anyone have any ideas of what it may be and how it can be fixed. ... Read more
They hadn't got a code-reader? This is a 'professional' garage wot's doing the MOT, and they hadn't got a code-reader? Even I've got a code-reader in the car! They could take a 'lambda reading' (whatever that means) but they couldn't read the fault codes by plugging a code-reader into the socket under the steering wheel?
If the 'engine light' is on, the very first thing you should do before driving any further is to call out the RAC, AA, Green Flag or Britannia Rescue or whoever you're with, and the chap will come along and read the fault code(s) and advise you as to what your course of action should be!

Recently went to a Toyota dealer to lok at new or nearly new models. Guy was holding a conversation on his mobile in the last remaining parking space. Looked up when he saw me trying to get in there, but didn't move. I left my car mostly in the space.
Went to reception and told them I'd rang earlier to look at what they'd got - told to take a seat and wait. After ten minutes or so I told reception I'd take a wander round their cars on the forecourt....
When I have been drivng around in this hot weather, I have noticed what feels like a slight juddering when applying the foot brake pedal.
Any ideas ? Read more

Current polo good car but now deal with small independent VW specialist garage as main dealers give very poor service.
Will not replace with another new VW because of this...

Friend of mine back in the 70s filled his Hillman Imp's oil right up to where he could see it - the neck of the oil filler. Predictable result! For a stupid bloke he did quite well and went on to become a senior partner in a large accountancy firm and has several very lucrative non execs.
Someone I know did it to a Mini, I only took notice when he said he had put 4.5 gallons in it and since then it was leaking oil everywhere.
I am in dispute with Armtrac security services for the issue of a parking ticket on private land in the centre of St Ives. I came to the parking area fully intending to pay for my time there. I drove to a parking bay and as I got out of the car to go over to the ticket machine, a driver leaving gave me his ticket with time left. I used this and left. On return, an attendent of the parking area approached me before I had got to my car to inform me that he had issued a parking penalty.
He also freely admitted that he had watched me from about 20 m away drive into the car park and accept the ticket from the leaving driver in full knowledge that (as I discoveed) the rule for this parking area is that the ticket are non transferable.... Read more
Glad to hear of your positive outcome and well done for your persistence.

But they advertise that they do one-way hire and I was expecting to pay for the privilige, however it was one of those conversations where the customer appears to be an inconvenience to the member of staff I spoke to.
