Not that I paricularly care about what manufacturers claim, but I took a bit of advice from HJ and don't carry unwanted stuff in the car, and only fuel enough for a long journey with a bit of reserve, and pootle around locally with a minimum in the tank otherwise.
Use the car as little as possible, less stress, more walking and that saves fuel and money.

I changed my wheels earlier and when I went to get the jack I found a cable that isnt connected to anything behind the drivers side rear light. I also know that the rear wiper isnt working and I was wondering if this cable not being plugged in is the cause? The only problem is that when I look I cant find anywhere for it to plug into. Does anyone know what this lead could be for? I'll add a photo of the cable in question as soon as I can. Read more
That makes sense actually, I couldnt for the live of me find somewhere for it to plug in. Thanks for the info guys.

I am giving serious consideration to changing from a diesel q3 to a 1.4t 140 when the time comes to change.

Check the wiring harness rubber grommet is correctly positioned in the near side rain channel up near the tailgate hinge on the near side. These have a habit of popping out and the water fills the spare wheel well.

Spoke to a local German car specialist who says no such thing they can tell straight away and fail the car. They spell lthe death knell for the urban diesel. So how do buses conform? I regularly see new ones belching out black fumes.... Read more
