When your yellow oil level warning sensor light comes on and it is intermittant do what I did'nt.
Long story, changed oil sensor when we did oil change, what I didn't know was independant mechanic used after market one. Worked ok with even more intermittant problems, ie. bleeped at me when temperature got to a certain level and then stayed on. Completely different to my original symptoms.... Read more
I have had this vehicle since new, and have just spent £500+ on repairs sills, carb cleaning and new gasket. and other parts.
However just recently the vehicle keeps cutting out when braking and will not idle. The vehicle repair service that I normally use cannot find the problem. He has stripped the Pierburg Carb and renewed the gaskets.... Read more

The fact you can add a 7 year or 100k mile warranty to your Dacia for £895 makes them a very compelling choice and a reliable financial choice.
But with the rusting issues many owners appear to be having a 7 year mechanical warranty is of little use....
Hi everyone!
I have a 2007 VW Golf GT TDI 140 and the high level LED brake light is not working correctly. It lights up when braking, but only just!
It's set into the top spoiler and there's no obvious way of removing it.
Has anyone else had this?
Many thanks in advance......

What a joke that design is, but about right after having the unfortunate displeasure of fitting a new heater matrix to a Seat.
I often wonder how long a designer in Japan would last when he presented something like that to the head engineer at Toyota, about as long as it took to clear his desk.
I have a 1950 Morris Oxford. The coil heats up after running her for a while...I've put a new coil on but it's heating up as well. What would cause the coil to heat up? The car stalls and stops when the coil gets very hot. Thanks Read more
A 1950 Oxford!! Was it even a 12V system on this car? It is so old it could have been 6V?
Assuming it was a 12V system it will have a standard not resitor ballasted coil. The original one would have had the screw on connections which came long before the push on type....
I am looking at an 11 plate E220 CDi, 30k, auto with full service history. Car looks clean but just wondered if there's anything in particular I should look out for? Plan is to keep it and run it to death.
If anyone has an idea of service intervals/cost at main agents I'd also welcome that as I've been away all week and haven't had time to call and find out. I know a very good MB Indy in my area that I'll probably use if they are significantly cheaper.... Read more
Passat came back from the dealers today where it was in to have the EPB/Auto Hold looked at/fixed in addition to a couple of rattles that I wanted sorting the next time it went in. Yesterday I went for a test ride with the Technician who said 'yep I agree there's a problem and the rattes need the dash taking out partially - 2 day job'. That was at 15:30 yesterday.
It was 'ready' at 10:30 this morning. Rattles still there, no fault with the EPB....

>> the distributors are usually under an engine cover these days.
Don't think I've seen a distributor (or anything that looks like one) on any car less than ten years old.
We need a replacement for our 05 Transit which has been brilliant but no longer suitable for delivering Ride On lawn mowers to customers within a ten mile radius, in view of the roof height.
The new van needs to have a Hi top, wide access for loading ride on mowers via a portable ramp.... Read more

Yes i would buy an ex renter at the right price, but not a Diesel.
I have had no problems with buying any ex-rental car in the past at up to a year old. If it has a dealer service stamp and manufactueres warranty, absolutely fine....

If it has the older distributor type electronic ignition, it is likely to be the "Hall Sender" , which could be replaced in those days.
