YOKOHAMA RUBBER CO., LTD is conducting a voluntary replacement program (recall) on its tyre model YOKOHAMA BluEarth AE-01, Sizes 185/65R14 86T/H and 185/65R15 88T/H.

Reason for this voluntary replacement program:

The affected tyres may have been produced with irregular geometry in the lower sidewall area of the tyre, above the bead area. This may in some cases cause minor cracking in the lower sidewall area resulting in the potential loss of inflation pressure. In rare cases there may be a loss of air, potentially causing a critical driving situation. ... Read more

My wife, our two sons and I moved into our present modest family home, in Benfleet in Essex, newly built and completed in January 1983. A local 'council rating officer' called soon after and in due course we were informed that our annual 'rates' for the tax year April 1983 to March 1984 would be £495. Over the years the rates have been increased substantially every year and by 2009 we were paying £1812. Frankly this is ridiculously high, as I am now paying as much CT as I pay in income tax. My simple analysis reveals that our rates have increased, on average, by 5.12% per annum for each of the intervening 26 years. During this time we have not made any substantial improvements to our house and its 'Banding' has not been reassessed. It has remained in Band E ever since the banding was introduced way back...Further analysis of the ONS RPI statistics for the same period reveals that the RPI increased, on average, by only 3.55% per annum for each of those 26 years. The disparity between the two figures is a huge 1.57% per annum i.e. The CT rise has been, on average, 44% higher than the RPI every year !

1) How can Essex County Council justify charging such an excessive amount, every year, above and beyond the RPI, of which Council Tax is an important constituent part?... Read more

I live in Suffolk where it's been 'frozen' for the last four years and I know Essex County Council really are b******s for this. Probably one of the worst around.

One problem obviously is much of it's spent on stuff nobody needs. They'd rather shut a library than cut some non jobs in the council bureaucracy, but that's how these people work....

I have recently bought a 2005 Citroen C5 3.0 V6 Exclusive Petrol model, and will need new tyres soon. The car has Four Michelin Primacy on it but was thinking of putting Avon ZV5 on the car or should I go for a more expensive tyre like Goodyear Efficient Grip performance. My concern is 210bhp through the front tyres. Read more

I'm a huge fan of Goodyears. I've got Eagle F1s on my Saab (junked Conti Sport Contacts for them - no regrets). Quiet, comfortable and with prodigious grip even when the roads are running with water like rivers. Even with 260hp through the front, they hardly ever worry the traction control. My fathers BMW 1 series has the EGs. Very similar characteristics, though they obviously major more on economy and a little less on "ultimate performance".

I have just bought a audi a6 2.5tdi 2002 model. I would like to know if this car has a dpf or is that just on new cars?

Thanks Read more

RobJP

Most likely not. They weren't required to be fitted until 2008. Some cars did have them prior to that though.

I can confirm that they did NOT have DPFs fitted. I had one a few years ago, and put a new exhaust on it.
