My sister-in-law bought a Golf about 6 months ago, and I recently bought a used Civic. They're both 13 reg, less than a year old. Obviously I don't want her car to suffer from any problems (It's a 1.4 TSi, although I know there are various versions, some more prone to faults than others), but at the same time I'm very interested to see if I've made the right choice in terms of reliability by going for a Honda. Statistically speaking the odds are in my favour. I suggested she should consider a Civic but she wouldn't hear of it.

Glad to hear another rogue set-up has been busted. I wasn't aware this sort of thing went on, but, being a cynic, I'm not surprised.

To be more positive, I have used Cophall Parking for a number of years now when flying from Gatwick and have been consistently impressed with them....

My father's Astra which he bought last year has 2 budget rear tyres. The tread is good but they don't exactly look new and there's no sign of any date stamps on them, either 3 or 4 digit. Does this mean they were made before date stamps were introduced and if so, how old does it make them? Read more

OK, thanks - I decided to change them anyway to avoid the risk

QUOTE:..."" the thing that strikes one most forcibly is how it is often quicker to drive than use bus or train. It doesn't count time waiting for a connecting service, as far as I can see.""

Obviously some journeys will be better by car, others by train. If I want to go to London from my home, train is much quicker....

After years of using my wife's cast off upright vacuum cleaners to clean the car interior, the time has come to invest in a new vacuum spefically for the purpose,

The current upright has a nozzle which is too short to properly clean areas such as between the seats and the interior door sills and as well as showing its age, it is awkward to move around the drive outside each car door using the hose to reach the necessary areas.... Read more

Good point about the fitted mats. I've usually gone for some generic carpet or rubber mats but the muck just spills beyond them, so have invested in some tailor made to fit ones for my car (ironically cheaper from Peuegot dealers than on Ebay!)

And they fit the entire footwell, so they can just be taken out and hoovered in the house rather than taking the hoover to the car.
