Took this in on Sunday. What a delight to wander amongst so many desirable examples in glorious conditions, etc., etc., apart from that new(ish) Rapide S!
The Works Team had one on display on their pitch. What an ugly mutt that is from the outside, although the interior is simply sublime. Was it modelled entirely on the Panamera? Certainly looks that way.... Read more
I have a 1994 Ford Mondeo Mk1 1.8 Petrol. Recently it has become
difficult to start. Previously it would start on the first turn of the
engine. Now it requires 2-5 bursts of starter. Sometimes it will catch
and immediately die. Once it has started it's generally ok, except I
have had once case of it dying whilst idling within 5 minutes of
starting. I also had a couple of cases of it dying whilst driving. The
problem can occur with a cold or hot start.
Also, the fuel consumption has worsened from around 36mpg to 32.5mpg.
I have new plugs, air filter and O2 sensor. There are no fault codes
found with either KOEO or KOER tests. It can also perform a Cylinder
Balance test perfectly. The fuel pump runs for a few seconds when
the ignition is turned on, and the immobiliser light goes out after
6 seconds.
I understand this has an Idle Speed Control Valve and an Idle-increase
Solenoid Valve. I wonder if they may be at fault. But I would have hoped
that a fault code would be logged. The engine also idles perfectly
during running. Read more
Is the engine filled with the correct grade oil?.Is the battery good? There is only one idle control valve on these, located below the inlet manifold ,by the starter motor. It may need cleaning, but access is not very easy.hth
Coming up to two years (half way through company lease period) and my Toyota is looking quite sorry for itself. Front and rear bumpers have numerous scuffs and scratches (no spare cash in kitty for a mid-range model or aftermarket reversing aids)
The dozen or more pea-sized scuffs I carefully painted over with the Toyota touch-up pen and lacquer (following instructions to the letter) have become discoloured and look like the work of a nervous finals student with a serious Tipp-Ex fetish.
I haven't yet looked at the four deep gouges inflicted by metal-edged number plates of neighbouring cars (none of them my doing, m'Lud!)
The lower front grille has become dislodged from its mountings three times - the slightest pressure seems to ping it out of its rather shallow mounting clips.
The upper front grille seems to have nothing more robust than chewing gum supporting it behind the attractive chrome and paintwork.
Any journey of more than 100 kms these days seems to wipe out entire insect colonies, leaving encrusted bodies, wings and blood over the whole of the front of the car and the mirrors.
Colleagues who changed cars at the same time as me who opted for Zafira, Scenic and C-Max models all have cars which look almost showroom-new, despite similar mileages and mostly on-street parking.
The flimsy bodywork and poor quality, far too thin, paint finish are beginning to put me off the brand.

Some support at last - thank you!
Bring back the Volvo estates - square styling, squishy bumpers and all!

Hi, can anyone help. I've had my Mondeo since Dec 2011.The air-conditioning was re-gassed a few months later, as not working well. Kwik-Fit did this job. But within a year (Aug 2013) I had them re-do it, as aircon was only working intermittently. No leaks were found. Within 4 months it had stopped working completely. Still no obvious leaks. Car cannot now be re-gassed. They say it's probably the compressor. Normal cost of this is around £450, plus labour - I cannot afford this. The cruise control also stopped working around Dec 2013.
New comprssors can be purchased for around £120 from many suppliers. Are these ones worth considering, or do you have to go for a Ford one at great cost? Is it worth booking car into a Ford main dealer or auto-electrician, to check whether there is an electrical fault stopping the compressor working, before I replace it? I have read on TalkFord that something called Fuse F82 controls both aircon and cruise control. Cruise Control I am less worried about, but want aircon fixed as it's now the Summertime and it's hot! Cannot afford £500 plus bill. Can anyone ogffer advice please?... Read more
Kwik fix are not able to repair anything related to aircon.I Would not jump to any conclusion that the compressor is faulty until you have consulted the services of a competent a/c specialist .there are many companies that can supply reman pumps at reduced price compared to main dealer,if it proves to be the problem.hth
Did anybody see "Barely Legal Drivers" on BBC3 last night?
One candidate driving with a hidden camera was a 20? year old female, apparently, she had been in 3 crashes shortly she passed her test 2 years ago. When the hidden camera footage was shown to her mother and a driving expert, she was doing such things as reading texts and sending texts whie driving, dancing while friving with both her arms flailing around to the music. The best thing is, at the end pf the programme, she was upset that she had to take extra driving tuition and couldn't understand why she wasn't rewarded with a car....

It's a convertible too and possibly ralleyed(sp) as it has a sort of spotlight high up on the front n/side windscreen/roofline? I have a couple of 1MB snaps of it. Is there any method (a central/junk email address perhaps?) of me making those available to view anywhere here?
All of my many digital pics currently reside on my iMac in iPhoto. Now, whilst I engage in many aspects of 'new technology' and am no Luddite I certainly don't entertain any of the 'social media' aspects/sites, etc. so don't ask me to stick 'em on F***book, t***ter,Tumblr, Instawotsit....
