Hi ive searched forums for a solution but havn't turned anything up.
My car has done 120k and has been serviced every year. When it is left to idle (i,e traffic lights) the engine is very flat and will not boost, unless i rev the engine with the clutch down a few times. If i keep my foot down while it is not boosting, it will struggle to around 3000 rpm and then start to make a faint clicking sound and throw a fair bit of smoke out. The engine is often so flat that I have started to dread pulling up to roundabouts.... Read more

I've had a similar situation before. A stranger asked me to turn their car around for them. I said I wasn't insured, but my passenger did it for them (he was insured). They also had a child in the car and they let a complete stranger in their car, with their child.
I'm looking to buy a 307. I have approx. £3000, to spend. I want a diesel, Could you recommend which model to go for. Read more
I had two 406's, they were both very decent motors. The 406 did very well over here in Britain and Peugeot would've been best served keeping it in production for another few years. I think they accidentally made a very solid car because most seem to go on forever. There's a taxi firm near me still using an X reg one with over 300k on it.
Wonder if anyone can help me locate a front-end problem with a 02 plate 1.6 Focus.
A distinct hum/droning sound comes from front wheels when travelling, noice increasing with speed and particularly when steering left. I do some work on my cars so know a bit about bearing/shafts, so my immediate thought was wheel bearings. I took apart the n/s left hub and the bearing is fine. The o/s bearing also appears ok with a simple test on the wheel for play/grinding, all seems in good shape.... Read more
I solved it by driving the car a few miles, stopping, and then feeling the brake disks. The faulty side will be much hotter. Do this with care though, discs can get very hot!
That would be more indicative of a sticky brake.
Hello,
I recently bought a brand new Suzuki that I picked up on Friday. Upon inspection, I noticed a small area of rust on the side panel by the headlight which I pointed out to the dealer. The dealer has offered to repair it by sandpapering the rust and touching up the area with a paint repair stick. The car is booked in for tomorrow.... Read more
Whilst Suzuki aren't in brilliant shape, I'd be a whole lot more worried about Mitsubishi.
Hi bought new bmax August last year it's been back to Bristol Street 4 times, no fault showing on dashboard so it has to be warm and miss firing when I take it in, if I turn it off I don't know when the fault will show again. The worst thing is when fault starts I lose acceleration I can only drive 30 mph which is so dangerous on the motorway or most country roads ( they say it's the car protecting itself). I have very poor health hence buying a car with sliding doors, so I am inclined to not drive it cos of the terrible hassle having hooting angry line of cars trying to overtake a brand new car so of course it can't have a fault..... Please help I don't know what to do next... Thank you for any advice Read more
Moved to Technical, where you should get more replies.
Maybe try another Ford dealer who should have more clue. A dealer's diagnostic equipment should be able to trace this abnormality, so i don't know why Bristol Street's can't.
I've just taken delivery of my new Honda Jazz and have driven 25 mile today. I'm extremely upset that the seat position is so poor that I now have an aching back and legs, especially at the back of the thighs where the hard foam is pushing into my legs. It's as if the seat is too high even though it's in its lowest position. I had my previous Jazz for 9 years and it was the most comfortable car I have ever driven. Why do manufacterers have to change items which are perfect in the first place? Can I have the seat reupholstered in softer foam or remove the top inch off the surface of the seat? I'm sure this would help. I just know that I can't use my car for any but very short journeys at present. Read more
You could go to a scrap yard and get some seats from a late scrapper - that's what I would do, I sympathise having been there myself only not the same car.
Is this the worst example of a callous driver ever ,if he's found guilty should he ever be allowed to drive again .

The Police in Bradford simply haven't got the numbers or the time to hunt down every offender for no insurance. Some motorists can get away with it for years before they're caught as a result.
Whenever the Police do attempt arrests, they're then told they're racist....
I fitted poly bushes simply because they were so much easier to fit than the OEM. Now I'm wondering if the suspension will be too ridged that something will break off perhaps the mounting brackets on the subframe. The original bushes are made to be springy.
Have I made a mistake? Read more
I wouldn't worry about it too much, poly bushes have some give in them. You'll know if it snaps off.
Hi all, just asking for a bit of advice, if any of you can help. My 19 yr old daughter gas a 53 plate xsara 2.0 hdi. She had a gates belt kit water pump etc fitted 12,000 miles ago, 18 months ago at her local garage. Engine was making a funny noise so she took it to someone she knew who is also a mechanic, who, to cut a long story short, discovered that the edge of the belt has shredded, and on further inspection found out that the tensioner had been fitted incorrectly. We contacted the garage who did it and finally he recovered the vehicle back to his garage monday and said he would put right anything that he had done wrong. When he was contacted today he said he hadnt looked at it but he said he hadnt realised it was so long ago, and i think is trying to wriggle out of doing it. The mechanic who discovered the problem said that the belt was guaranteed for 80,000 if fitted correctly, so where do we stand. Get it done somewhere else and try and recover cost via small claims, etc etc. all i know is she is without a car and she paid alot of money in good faith and either the belt has let her down or workmanship? I would second that !
A it sounds like the garage is incompetent...

It certainly does, or the sensor elements may be coated in oil, if they are a gentle squirt of carburettor cleaner will clean them, but don't touch them they are very delicate, check that they have not broken off.
