New C3 Picasso march 2013 with 17" alloys. I needed a full size spare wheel for travelling abroad(Just in case!).
What A CARRY ON!
Apparently Citroen do not have a 17'' Steel wheel for a C3 Picasso(the Alloys were hugely expensive) so I was advised a 16'' wheel would be ok but omitted to tell me that I would need a different tyre to achieve the same diameter as the alloys already fitted(original tyres are Michelin low profile).
After messing about and fitting the wrong tyre initially Kevin at North East Tyre and Exhausts in Silverlink, Wallsend,Newcastle upon Tyne came up trumps and tried 2 sizes against the fitted tyres and eventually fitted a 205/55R16 which resolved the situation.WELL DONE N E TYRES
Another thing I changed when I bought the car was to replace the puncture repair canister with a tichy spare wheel.I don't think filling you tyre with gunk will enable a puncture repair and I would feel safer with a proper tyre, even though its a toy one!

So today I picked up my new 2014 C3 Picasso. I'll never have a new car again so this was really exciting. I didn't want the can of foam so have got the appropriate 'space saver' wheel however there was no towing eye, brace, jack or little wheel nut protector removal tool which is needed to prevent these chrome look (plastic) covers from breaking when removing. I've seen many kits on ebay in the polystyrene holders with all these bits (except the removal tool I've just mentioned) but they are for earlier Picasso models so maybe they won't be the suitable for mine. The jack, brace and towing eye are really important and if my 17' clover wheels can be removed using the same brace as the earlier models then my problem is solved. Are all the jacks the same too? I can't imagine the weight of the car will have changed or the jacking points moved with this latest model. Any advice and help would be very much appreciated.

finally resolved it. A friend and half a can of easy start and now it's running with over 4000 psi at idle on the fuel rail. My bet is the kinked lines from the previous garage bodge job and the dodgy seal on the top o ring on the fuel filter were the root cause of the air lock. Just hope they haven't killed the pump with too many dry attempts at starting!

Thanks for the tips

Our car is less than 4 years old and we have had since new (Sept 2010). It has done 40,000 miles and serviced by Mercedes. Recently we have noticed an intermittent high pitched whine coming from what seems to be the auto gear box. It is present whether the gear box is in park, drive or any of the others. The noise comes and goes and so is proving difficult to pin down. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it might be? I am undecided whether to part ex it for a new car but if the box is on the way out then that will influence my decision but I would be surprised if it was as its not old and not done that many miles. Any thoughts much appreciated. Read more

As Gordonbennet says, first thing to usually do with an MB box when you have a whine etc, is to get the fluid level checked/changed. It is critical that the correct grade of fluid (meeting the MB spec) is used, plus there's a set procedure to follow for checking the fluid level, so best to take it to a garage who know about Mercedes.

OP doesn't state if this is the older 5G or 7G box. MB changed the guidelines on the 5G boxes from 'sealed-for-life' to change once at 37,000miles. Many MB indys (and main dealers) recommend to carry on changing the fluid (plus filter) at approx 37K intervals - I certainly stick with this. If it is the newer 7G box, not sure what the guidelines on that are....

Does any menber know where the negatve battery wire is bolted to the cahassis / body (battery is under passenger seat) .The positve wire runs under the floor and emerges at a terminal block under bonnet. But the negative dissapears under the floor, Heynes manual says near battery. not a lot of use as every where is carpeted and stuck downThe reason apart from curiosity is that I have had engine turn over problems and want to check for corrosion, I have put a heavty load on and checked for volt drop from battery terminal to engine block, but would still like to know where the bonding point is.

Any help appreciated.... Read more

If you search for a negative battery cable online, It will give you some idea of how short the cable is.

My merc '07 c320cdi ocassionally hiccups under hard acceleration if I've been on the motorway, stop for petrol, and start again. I had my independent dealer hook it up to the diagnostics and it reported 'Check component Y77/1 (Boost pressure regulator). Positioner signals fault.'

The garage says this means it needs a new turbo, estimated at £1500+vat+labour, which seems a great deal to spend on a car at this stage of its life. Its done 72k miles and I had the oil seals around the turbo replaced a year ago because of leaks. The symptoms are only ocasionally, meaking the cost even more difficult! I'd be temped to live with it, only I suspect it'll get worse - if so, would it cause a bigger bill?... Read more

Hi I am looking to get the new BMW 2series or 3series. I am getting the 2ltr diesel but I just wanted to check what's the difference between the 218d and the 220d? Is the power difference just down to engine mapping and can the both be remapped to the same power?

Many Thanks

I had a 118D and also drove the 120D before I bought. The extra power was noticable but only when you planted your right foot, the rest of the time they drove vitually the same. But the gearing on the 120D was totally different to the 118D, more performance orientated. Thus even with the same power mthe 118D would ahve driven differently.

By remapping you will loose your engine and power train warranty, that is not really sensible on a car costing over £20000.
