Hi :)
I'm a newbie here & since my battery died about 8 months ago I've had no radio. I've tried finding my manuals etc but since we moved house I can't find them. I have to listen to my children singing everywhere I go! Please can someone help me with my code? Or tell me a safe place online to get it from please?

Hey, any advice here about the used Audi TT Coupe. Is this a good small sports coupe for the money? which one should I get - 180 or 225 bhp? I need coupe as roadster version only has 2 front seats, the coupe has some room in back for my little boy. I am aware of issues around dash console? ESP package? suspension? air mass meter problems?

Is there a better value used small sports car for a budget of £4,000?... Read more

Hi - thanks for the expert advice. I will investigate the cars you mentioned. Cheers.

I have beeen living in Italy for the last seven/eight years and am moving back to the uk next month. The problem is I am unable to locate or even remember the name of the motor insurance company that I last had in the UK and for which I had full/ max no claims discount (NCD). My fear is that I will need to start from the beginning and therefore pay a very high premium.

Whilst in Italy, our family car has been isured in my wife's name so there is no NCD to transfer over.... Read more

As some of you may recall, recently the missus and I took the decision to buy a new Auris (1.4 diesel). Well since ordering it mid February, we've not heard a peep, and as we were expecting a date sometime mid-late March, SWMBO got in touch with the dealer for an update.

Well, after a little bit of checking with Toyota, the dealer has replied to say that 'Toyota are dealying all deliveries until the revised facelift in June' which seems odd. The dealership are baffled and have vowed to find out more next week, as they acknoweldge it's odd and need to know themselves.

So, any thoughts? Why facelift a new model so soon? I wonder if it may be linked to the engine deal with BMW that was discussed?

Cheers,

Think they are revising the clock in the current model - too many were turning up on Antiques Roadshow

Well we nearly went for a Focus as the clock is nicer. In the end the 5 year warranty convinced us otherwise though. :-)

5 years ago I bought a Mitsubishi Spacewagon, 1999, 2.4 GDI with engine 4G64. It has been a great buy.Reliable, hardly any replacement parts and fairly cheap to purchase. I wanted a 6 seater for occasional passenger duties and a 'work horse'

The car had run great with no signs of any problems then 5 months ago in the heavy rain weather my car gave a problem when driving home. Just as though it had water in the petrol. Upon investigation my local garage said they couldn't see any problem. Then again,on driving the car from the garage, the same problem. Was towed back to the garage and they found the petrol filler pipe was rusted through and replaced it.... Read more

Are you certain you don't have a blocked exhaust system, or an EGR valve stuck open thus causing the engine to draw back its own exhaust gasses? Try disconnecting the front pipe and see if it improves. Bear in mind though the noise might annoy your neighbours. Failing that check for any air leaks on the engine side of the mass air flow sensor. Unmetered air drawn into the air intake will have a considerable effect on engine performance. Also check the valve timing in case the crankshaft woodruff key has worn. Measure inlet manifold vacuum using a vacuum gauge. Many engine problems including those I have just mentioned can be easily identified this way. At idle manifold vacuum should be perfectly steady at between 16-21 inches. A low steady reading will tell you there's a problem such as those mentioned. A fluctuating needle will be a sign of sticky valves. This will probably be the best thing for you to do.

BILLY LEWINS

Let's start with the errors:
HADECS cameras have been enforcing variable and NSL limits on the motorways for years; they are not and have never been restricted to enforcing variable limits in repairs and alterations.
HADECS cameras have always been painted dull grey and have never been yellow.
The cameras are not there to raise additional funds, the whole system will cost £100M's and will cost £millions/year to run so don't forget those costs in claiming the 'additional funds' baloney. The purpose of the cameras is to regulate the flow of traffic by way of speed enforcement. Some and perhaps all of the costs will be met by the motorist but only those who have broken the law.
The cameras are not stealth cameras, the cameras being replaced were located out of view behind signs, the new ones are in plain view. How is that stealthy?
Now we are on the right road let's discuss the premise of the article. It is clear from the massive ignorance in the systems both old and new that these professional drivers and the journalist running this page have little idea of what they write and express opinion upon so the view they have that they don't support the "stealth cameras" is completely unfounded...either that or they do know the facts and have chosen to ignore them and to print this bunkum.
What a shame an otherwise reasonable and useful motoring column is spoiled and let down by either ignorance or bias.

Hi all. I have problems when pulling off. The car dithers between 1100-1500 rpm .when cold its fine, I got red light that it was egr. Vale . So replaced. Still happens, if I press accelerator and keep at 1200-1300rpm it feels lumpy and jerky , a friend said it might need manifold to come off and be cleaned ,is this right or could it be another problem thanks. I had severe jerking and hesitation with my car and it turned out to be a dodgy injector, but that would affect running at higher revs too.

Does sound consistent with sticking EGR valve from what other people have said on the Ford forums. Cheap enough to get it checked out and maybe cleaned. As the previous poster pointed out, if the valve moves freely perhaps the actuator is not working properly?...

I'm considering looking for a used Saab 9-3 1.9 diesel as my mode of transport for a 600 mile/week commute. Any opinions on the suitability of the car? The main things I'm looking for are good fuel economy, reliability over high miles and be a comfortable motorway cruiser.

Other main contenders are 1.9tdi skoda octavia or 1.9d Volvo v40.

Have a budget up to 5k but would be much happier spending around 3k so am expecting to be buying something which already has a fair few miles on it.

Any advice on what to look out for or possible issues with the 9-3 would be great. Read more

It is a Renault engine but apparently Volvo had it made to higher specifications but don't have any details.
