Hi Guys,

Long story short, I find myself doing 100 miles a day to and from work. I have taken a big drop in wages so money is tight and will be for at least a year.
My dilemma is this: should a spend money on my 105,000 miler, or swap it for my partner's 1.2 petrol Clio. She would then part-ex it on a newer small car.... Read more
I'd say that's a good decision. At 105k it's just about run in. My 1.8TDci has recently passed 200k and is still going strong
My father (in his 70's but still good driver) is thinking about getting rid of his S40 Mk1 which is now tired with 150k miles.
He has about £6k to spend. There is a big auction place near him in Peterborough.... Read more
"I've always thought of Avant as Sgt Wilson, trying to keep the other various hotheaded members of Dad's Army under control :)"
Yes - but remember that when Wilson said 'Would you mind falling in please, in three ranks. Thank you so much" - the platoon all fell in. Politeness can be effective!
Yes Trilogy, good guess its silver, though most phase 2 H6's for sale recently have been green or red over grey.
Its quite shocking the bargains you can get with gas guzzlers now....
Hello,
I have a 1999 model Vauxhall Omega 2LTR Petrol. It has
high emissions. I have changed the main air intake unit,
exhaust gas emissions unit, had the carb cleaned and
airways checked. No difference made. Can you help? It's my
baby...
Yours sincerely,

had the carb cleaned
A 1999 Omega will not have a carb, it will be injected. It will also have a Cat and lambda control. If either of these units is not functioning properly it will have high emissions.
Interesting survey from yesterday's Telegraph about how electrical problems in cars of 3+ years old have more than doubled in the last 5 years.
Renault lived up to the bar-room wisdom that 'French cars are terrible for electrics' by being the least reliable manufacturer in terms of electrical problems. However, Citroens proved more reliable than teutonic titans Audi, Mercedes and Porsche, and was as reliable as BMW.... Read more
I get to see a lot of Peugeots and Citroens, and for me I find the most common cause of electrical failure - after a couple of known design flaws (207 and 407 rear light earth problem, and the 307 heater resistor pack) - are down to owner neglect.
I find cars where the bonnet is never lifted and the scuttles are blocked with leaves and debris, so the water doesn't flow out of the channels and runs into the fuse box or the soundproofing which soaks it up like a sponge....

A Planet / Diagbox diagnostic should tell you if there's anything wrong with the injectors and their flow.
Looking to swap tyre n/s to o/s, anyone know if Avon ZV5's rotation critical?

The Avon ZV5 is not a one directional tyre and therefore the wheel can be fitted on either side of the vehicle. It does need to be fitted correctly to the wheel however, as it has an "outside" and an "inside".

Thanks for the replies. In my excitement of buying the car I've put 2004 when it's actually a 2005 (registered May 2005) so it's just under 9 years old. I keep getting mixed up as it's the last of the older shape models as they were changed as you'll all know that year. Anyway I've spoken with the garage I use and this service it's due is a major one so I'll get that done as it's £195. The garage comfirmed it's 100,000 or every 10 years for the cam belt etc so I'll see when I take it in for the service what he thinks I should do.
