I desperately didn't want to be one of those people who only post in forums when they want something but... I've been lurking for a while and everyone seems quite nice so I'm hoping you'll all forgive me.

Hi
When driving my golf the car intermittently loses power. If you lift your foot off the accelerator the power is immediately restored. Also when drinking at any speed the car may lose power and if you keep your foot on the accelerator the power will return. I have fitted a new turbo , changed the throttle body, new fuel filters and turbo pipes have been checked for leaks. The car has also had a diagnostics check with no fault found. Does anyone out there have any ideas on what the problem could be? The car is 2003 limited edition with anniversary engine. The car has 80,000 on the clock with full service history.

I think it is agreat idea that info on failed Mot garages is available, but maybe not as an email alert. After all, we only MOT a vehicle once a year, and generally close to home, so I am sure i would soon gt fed up getting alerts regularly, for areas of no interest to me. A site where such failed MOT examiners were listed would probably suffice. Read more
What constitutes a GOOD mot garage? one that fails a numberplate bulb out? or a small crack in a windscreen that is way out of the drivers vision? or one that will issue advisories on unimportant stuff? Big garages and dealerships will fail every small fault because the fitter will not exercise judgement , nor the foreman , nor the service manager. so dealerships will have a higher fail rate than smaller garages. MOT tests used to be about safety, but they are more like a concours judging now, I've had an advisory that there was a stone chip on the front plate on a van ..is that safety? I even had a motorcycle fail because the numberplate digits were 6mm too small.. had to go buy a new plate. won't go there again. it's so hard to find a sloppy mot garage these days...
b***** hell. Didn't see that one coming.

I see the multi millionaire arm chair socialist Tony Benn has died.
Sad news, though he'd had his fair share of life. I dislike many lefties, but Benn was a very decent and sincere man, far too trusting and naive as were many who looked to Russia as an example. I don't think it is fair to pick on his background. You would not despise someone for being poor. I admired him, despite disagreeing with almost all of his views.
I flushed out the coolant system and replaced the coolant in my TDi Golf the other day. I drove the car today for a while, there was plenty of heat from my heater system but then it suddenly went 'cold'. The temperature hand did not rise above 90 degrees. When I opened the header tank (which seem to relieve some pressure) after driving it the coolant went from the normal mark to the very top of the bottle. My water pump was replaced 2 years ago (max)
My top radiator hose was quite hot while the bottom hose was cold-ish (which I gather is normal in temperatures around 8 degrees) Is this a normal experience when the coolant has been replaced? Has anyone ever experienced this problem or similar before?... Read more
I'll try that tomorow, thanks!

Not on this site,I'm afraid.
A main agent is attempting to shift the above car in the full knowledge that the bushes have degraded on near side and off side that will cost over £650 to repair and not informing customers.

I nearly bought the vehicle until we found out independently about the problems, they do not appear follow OFT guidelines about informing customers about faults and ignore e mails even sent to their CEO.
Poor service from a large group....

Thank you! I thought as much.
I sent the letter, didn't get a response and so have now sent my "letter before action". This is such a nuisance. The dealership freely admit (now) that the car has had paintwork done so something has been repaired/covered up but still refuse to acknowledge any fault. They would rather insinuate that I have has an accident, covered it up on the cheap and am now unhappy with the result and so want them to put it right! Madness!!
