Hi

On starting my fiesta titanium diesel after It has been standing over night I get pale blue smoke. Is this a sign of engine/diesel injection trouble ? Read more

Is it dangerous and damaging ? Any ideas on cost ?

Your habit of driving off the instant the engine fires is defo damaging. It's damaging the valve stems and guides and quite possibly the turbo bearings too (and maybe other areas). Both these areas are big bucks if the damage becomes severe and in need of remedial action....

If the prop has been removed to hide a seized VCU then you're not going to damage it further because it's already knackered.

Hello all,

I've recently bought a 1.6 TDCI Ford Focus (mk2) as I'm doing around 400 miles a week for work. However it is now suffering from the problems that are all over this website, with the turbo dying with me having owned the car for a grand total of 3 weeks!... Read more

You won't get much for a Focus with a broken turbo. If the turbo is it's only problem I'd look into getting it replaced.

Honest advice? If you're doing that many miles then nothing's going to stay that nice for that long. Spend a couple of grand on a petrol one and drive it until it's dead. It'll have less complications and leave you a few spare pounds for all the tyres you're gonna need....

Hey all! Just joined up to hopefully get some sound advice on buying myself a new car. Im looking for a diesel hatchback which is very economical, not snail slow and hopefully reliable. Ive whittled it down to 3 but each seem to have their own drawbacks.

I used to own an S40 2.0D SE (new shape 2004 reg). I bought it in 2008 when I it had 134,000 miles on it. I took it up to 176000. I sold in this time last year to Car Giant as a trade in. I spotted it on Ebay this evening at a dealers in Shropshire. The mileage is now recorded as 108,000 ???? So has obbviously been clocked. I wont name and shame the Shropshire Dealer as they may have bought it unkowingly. I don't know where the car has been for the last year.

Has this happened to anyone else, seen an old car thats obviously been clocked.... Read more

i agree with a lot of your comments. engine is tourquey but not great on economy i too nearly always around 48mpg mixed driving. i now get 52-55mpg in 2.0 tdci mondeo. style wise volvo was looks good outside and nice inside, especially seats.

mine was unreliable. mainly niggly ekectricals. key ignition broke, dpf sensor and i had to pull fuse on glow plugs to cure a limp home mode....

During acceleration in 1st 2nd & 3rd gear (manual G/box) up to about 40mph the car shakes through the floor. At higher speeds there is no shake. There is no vibration through the steering wheel, gear lever or pedals. I have replaced all tyres, both front driveshafts are new, no buckled wheels. My local garage says there is no play in any part of the propshaft. Rear driveshafts are in good condition, Rear differential has had regular oil changes. The car has done 149,000 miles. I have not taken the car to Honda - yet. Can anyone suggest where the vibration/shake could be coming from? Thank you. Read more

Mazda 5 Venture, 62 reg, The engine has cut out on five occasions, when accelerating in fast traffic, and the tcs/dsc light appears on. The main dealer in Southampton, that supplied the car, has had the car for four days, but has done nothing, has no idea of a cause, and says there is no record of any such fault. We have had RAC breakdown twice and they suggest switching off the TCS/DSC before every journey, but the cut-out has still occurred and of course leaves us without this safety ?? feature. Very worried about any future driving. Read more

Main dealer cannot find any fault and say that they have never heard of it, plus it is not logged as an issue on the Masda system..
