I received a new Polo in November 2011. In December 2013, at the second service, I was informed that the transit front suspension blocks had never been removed,(which explained the harsh ride), at the PDI. Up until now, would the car have failed to pass a Road Traffic Act inspection? Was it safe and legal? Was it legally insured? Read more

As a left-field wildcat, how about the Alfa Giulietta?
We were close to buying one, until boring domestic nonsense cropped up. That was a simply sublime auto box, and can be very well spec'd. We'll worth a test drive in my view, although I accept they're 'different' to the other choices listed.
As I say, left field!
My Jazz has just passed it first MOT. This car has done only 24k miles and has a full Honda service record from new. The MOT cert. came with the following advisory:
1: slight oil misting on shock absorber rear off side.... Read more
The MOT is very poor in the method of testing them. The MOT has no proper method of judging correct function and I am sure if you took to another centre you would get a diiferant result.
further you will not get them fixed under any warranty so trying is a waste of you time and effort....
Hi All, is there an online resource that I can use to get the part number of a heater fan motor for the above please?
Or can anyone tell me?... Read more
Take out the heater motor,it will have the part # on it .you will then be able to cross reference with other suppliers,ie motor factors or euro parts.hth
hi, i`m wondering if there`s a website that would tell me what cars use the same parts as mine. Basically i`m in need of a window regulator for a zsara picasso 1.8 petrol 03 and there aren`t any in my local breaker yards. I know from previous experience that picasso parts aren`t exclusive to citroen cars but I can`t exactly strip down every car till i find the same part. If anyone could point me in the right direction to some where that list what carsd use the same parts i would be very grateful. cheers. Read more
The design of the window regulator is particular to the geometry of the door. For that reason, although many of the components may be stock items, the regulator as a whole will be unique to the vehicle. So unless there is another PSA vehicle which uses the exact same door, you need one from a Zsara.
You don't say what's wrong. Some makes offer the mechanism and motor unit as seperate service items.
Have been thinking about buying a BMW 320D M Sport, but I am somewhat alarmed at the number of stories/concerns regarding the 19" alloy wheels. There are numerous accounts of these alloy wheels developing serious cracks and thus need to be repaced (including the tyre). Buyers complain that this is a known fault but that BMW refuse to acknowledge the problem and dismiss these faults as being caused by potholes. I have no personal experience of any such issues so would be most interested in any feedback. Read more
Some owners might argue that BMW is fully aware of the road conditions in the UK and should have made their 19-inch alloys fitter for purpose. You can hardly expect a salesman to warn buyers to drive their sporty vehicles carefully on potholed roads in case a wheel fractures?
Hi, I have had a new battery fitted and since then when braking sometimes the battery warning light comes on and it feels like the car might stall. Has anyone any idea why this might be? Had no problem before new battery fitted. Could it be poorly fitted or might it have triggered some other problem. Hope you can help please.
Thanks, will try that. I know my trip counter reset itself afterwards but everything else seemed ok, apart from this problem when braking.
Has anyone used DIY oil analysis kits - eg MotorCheckUp www.thedroptest.co.uk/motorcheckup.html
Opie Oils, well regarded by most entusiasts, has started selling them.... Read more
Calcium hydride will give you hydrogen, so the overall result will be similar. Both potentially explosive ....
Carbide probably keeps better though.
