I'm usually quite skeptical when it comes to electric cars, I've never been a fan of them. However this new BMW i3 seems to be getting some really good press, as well as changing many people's perceptions about electric cars.

Hi I have a Pergeot 406 that I drove for 500 klm and it was fine . I had it up on ramps to put putty on a hole in the exhaust and while it was idling to set the putty the radiator exploded ( end cap) the temp never went up ( on the dash ) I fixed the radiator and drove around the block and the temp went to the red and it started chugging and water ran out onto my foot inside the car. Was dripping a bit of water from the engine bay as well. It had a service done about a month before that and all was good . Read more
You had the car on ramps which may have put the radiator higher than the engine. Any air in the cooling system may have caused an air lock stopping coolant circulation & with the temperature sensor out of the coolant. The air could have been in there for some time or may be due to a faulty head gasket as has been suggested.

Hi John
No it's pretty much the same as ever. Now on 140k still with all original exhaust etc.Passed the last MOT in July with no issues. I am impressed with your 230k. Have you needed any engine work?...
The (external) bonnet release tab on my son's Fiesta has dislodged itself and has fallen in behind the plastic grill. Anyone know how I can get the bonnet open to get at the tab and put it back in place|?

I've been reading various horror stories about dpf issues. I had never even heard of dpf until a few months ago. For years now I have had diesel cars becauseI need a decent size practical car for the family and to keep my income tax down on my company cars. I cover maybe 7000 miles per annum and the vast majority is covered around town normally short journeys. The car hardly ever sees a motorway. So I guess I am doing everything you are advised not to do with dpf diesel cars. My last 3 cars have been two Citroen c4 grand Picasso a 2008 and a 2009 model and recently a 2013 Peugeot 5008. So far no issues at all. Does this mean that Peugeot and Citroen are less pprone too dpf issues than other makes ? Read more

Helloim trying to replace the inside cv gaitor i have the drive shaft loose and it says using a lever carefully prise the inner joint from the final drive casing im a bit confused on what this means. Does the cv joint come out with the driveshaft and where abouts to lever does the casing split or do you prise it out from the gear box housing and are there any tipes on making this easier if its prising it out from the gearbox housing there are 3 different groves so not sure which one to try. Hope someone understands what i am asking and can help many thanks. Read more
Hi
I am thinking of buying a family car worth up to 5000. The car should be super reliable coz I do high mileage and should fit all my daughters stuff like buggy and all (had 51 reg mondeo before)
The question is what would you advise as in what age cars should I be looking at and what mileage should be acceptable.
Is there any particular car that suits my needs I am tired of looking and I either find high mileage BMW,audi ,vw or less mileage polo's
I love the big brand cars as everyone but is it worth checking those cars for pint of money and my needs so I am just going to rely on your expert advise to tell me which car to buy and of what age and mileage.
Regards,

Closing this thread as for some doubtless excellent reason the OP has started another on the same subject.
Recently been looking to buy a nearly new (Japanese Make) Diesel. After doing my research on Autotrader and 2 separate (Japanese Make) dealership websites I thought I'd found 2 examples of the ideal vehicle. After arriving for a booked test drive at the 1st dealership, despite their website and the Autotrader website advertising to the contrary, I was informed that the vehicle which was advertised a having cruise control actually didn't after all. The dealership staff referred me to the disclaimer on both their and the Autotrader websites which outlined that cars advertised may not have all the features detailed in the adverts; I was also informed that (despite the car being advertised for sale for well over a month) the dealership staff had not taken it upon themselves to check that the details on both their and the Autotrader websites were correct. Fast forward 2 days later when I rang up another (same Japanese Make) dealership enquiring about a 2nd (Japanese Make car) advertised on the dealership and Autotrader websites as having cruise control. This time I asked the sales person to go out onto the forecourt to physically check the car I was interested in had cruise control before booking a test drive and to ring me back immediately. 1 hour later I received a ringback informing me that it did not, after all, have this feature.
Is this a game that dealerships play to trick people into visiting their sites or are they simply OK with incorrect details about vehicles being posted onto their own and the Autotrader websites relying on the disclaimers on such websites to explain away why customers have been misled and had their time wasted visiting a dealership. ... is the info autofilled? does it pull through the car features when the registration is added to the website. i know some car sites work through this?????

The answer would be to add a fuel preservative, similar to one that that lawnmowers use to keep fuel fresh over winter, these also stop the ethanol in modern fuel attacking pipes e.t.c. although I would presume that modern vehicles fuel systems are made of materials that resist the effects of ethanol.
