Daughter has just told me her central locking has stopped working. The key is a plain mechanical key to put in the door keyhole, no remote function, but locking/unlocking the driver's door should lock/unlock all other doors.
She had a new battery recently, I don't see why that should cause the problem, is there a fuse which controls central locking, as everything else works normally? Read more
i drove to the park today and the car was fine but when we got back in to drive home the instrumental panel wasn't working - so no movement on speedo, revs, fuel and temp gauges. everything else was working - is this a fuse probem or sometheng else? all help gratefully received! Read more
thanks - will try that this morning
The S-Max will be five years old in June and I will have owned it for 4 years by then, having driven about 40,000 miles. I love the car, but I am getting itchy feet.
I think we still need a car which has seven seats. Still debating that issue with Mrs HB, but if I bought another S-Max I think I would regret spending the money (a new S-Max is so similar to mine that it would feel like a waste of about £20,000 to change), whereas a different car would feel 'better'.... Sorento is much bigger than a CX-5. Its almost Volvo XC90 size.
Had a look at a Sorento today. its ok, but I can't see myself in one. A bit too plasticky and the dash reminds me of the Sedona, which is at least six years old now. I know it has a great engine, but compared to the S-Max it feels outdated already.
Hi. I've recently taken my Focus in for a service expecting everything to be OK.
Unfortunately I was told that the turbo was 'knackered'. I'm not the greatest with car mechanics but the chap at the garage showed me what the issue was. It looked like some turbine blades in a cylinder housing were wearing away. I was told it was a good idea to get it replaced as even thought it is working now it's only a matter of time before it blows. ... Read more
Any help on the question above would be appreciated, thanks.

Over the last few weeks, my rear seat has become very damp both sides. No appararent leaks from windows of doors but it is getting gradually very wet. Are there any drainage channels that may be blocked and how can I get the back seat out? Any help would be grately appreciated.

Hello Please help.
I have just replaced the starter motor on my car because it was making a nasty noice when starting. Now when i try and start the car it turns over but then all you can hear is the starter motor spinning. The DMF was changed about 7000miles ago and looks perfect. Is it a faulty starter or something else?... Read more
If you still have 11.5 volts with the starter engaged it is obviously not turning the engine over, either your new starter is faulty or as mentioned the DMF gear ring.
I bought a mazda 5 sport from evan halshaw on the 18/11/2013.
Just started to notice rear suspension really soft making the car bounce over every bump.... Read more
The rear shocks failing was another one of the shortcomings of that car. On mine the bounce was accompanied by knocking noises over uneven road surfaces, man hole covers etc. This was one of the faults that Mazda held its hands up to , for me. I had my rear shocks replaced under warranty, but the car was less than 12 months old. There is still some info on a mazda forum about this and the thread has been running for a few years. The other things they admitted was a problem with the power steering, which howled like a banshee when cold.
Mazda wasn't so keen to acknowledge that the fuel dilution of the oil and the savage inner edge wear on the tyres was an issue (despite my seeing piles of tyres with edges worn to the casing, stacked up in the corner of a dealer's workshop).
Im posting on behalf of my 74yr old father. His Motability car is up for renewal from next month and Ive been trying to help him come up with a decent replacement for his Citroen C4.
He never ventures onto the motorways at all and very rarely uses roads with speed limits in excess of 40mph.... Read more
If he's disabled or not very mobile. the important thing is to try the cars on the showroom to see how easy they are to get in and out of. It's partly a matter of door and seat height; also the distance between the seat and the door sill.
You could add the Honda Jazz and Ford B-Max to this list. The Ford and the Qashqai are higher off the ground which may or may not be helpful depending on your father's mobility....
