Hi my son drove to work all ok .got back in car would not start .turns over .got towed to garage.they say the timing chain has jumped so out of time.cost to fit new chain 350 .but said the valves may be damaged.what I'm asking is as the car turns over ok with no rattling or knocking could the valves be ok.and ifs it worth having the chain changed and taking a chance .any thoughts thanks Read more

im not mad to hand over that much for just parts.... would rather buy the parts from ebay ect and do it myself. im rather handy on servicing works, done suspension bushes, brakes... from what you say sounds not to difficult... just going to cost me a bit in tools... the parts add to about £50
airbox is fine still, it slightly melted and deformed above the worst injector. but you dont know unless you look underneath.... ...
has your insuranace company cancelled your policy but didn't tell you ? if so log you details here. i am doing this to see how bad this problem is and what we can do about it.

The piston starts life right at the start of its cylinder with big fat pads and disc. The inside of the cylinder will last longer if it is bathed in brake fluid, but until the pads and disc wear it will be more prone to corrosion. Discs have at least 2mm wear in them and pads many more.
I believe it is important that pads and discs are allowed to wear right down to the minimum before they are changed to ensure the piston travels as far as possible along its cylinder. My car was in for a service yesterday and I took the opportunity to test drive the new Mazda 3 while I was there. Ticks all the boxes for me so I will be giving this car some serious consideration later this year.
However, the revelation of the day was the courtesy car which was the previous (just replaced) Mazda 3. I have had one before but hadn’t driven it to the extent that I drove this one. What a great car this is to drive, the steering, the handling, the gearchange and ride are all excellent. I regularly drive a Focus for work and I can honestly say that the Mazda is at least on a par with the Ford from a driving enjoyment point of view. Just thought I would put in a good word for this sometimes forgotten gem.

It's a partial base on Ford's C1 platform, so that also makes it somewhat...Volvo-y.
Hi, The side mirror adjustment switch and the mirror retraction switches (RHS steering column) are not illuminated. Is this normal, or just mine?

we have a 2.5tdi rebuilt engine but miss firing on number 4 cylinder , if we start the car run for a while then stop disconnect glow plug rail and put a direct feed on to no4 glow plug motor runs perfectly untill you remove power to glow plug , not injector as swaped around and problem is only on no 4 any theories as to why? possibly pump pressure? or sensors ?any sugestions welcome Read more
