After a month and a half and 2,000 miles with the Octavia, time for some first impressions which I hope might be of interest.
This is my third vRS estate, the first being a diesel manual (blue) and the second a petrol DSG (white). This one's a petrol manual (red). Not (quite) as capricious as it sounds: I'm now doing between 10,000 and 15,000 miles a year rather than 20-25,000, and although the DSG works well and was totally reliable (wet-clutch), I always got the feeing that it was holding the car back just a bit.... I'm particularly interested that you went back to and appear to be enjoying the manual, you'd have thought that the all singing all dancing DSG would have been as near as dammit perfect for general driving, but already you seem to be 'relieved' to not have to wait for it....

I have a 04laguna.heater fan wont work when serv light is on in the instrument cluster.when I start the car and serv light goes of the fan will work.have to look at it tomorrow and was wondering has anyone came across such a problem. Thanks Read more

I have tried 3 times and been locked out for 30 mins. I know i have 7 more go's but I know I am inouting the code correctly from the manual.

You probably don't have the same manual that originally came with your car, or your radio has been changed at some time prior to your ownership.
You need to get the serial number of the radio, either by pressing buttons 1 and 6 together (which may or may not work) or pull the radio out from the dashboard slightly so that you can read the serial number that will be printed on a sticky label on the radio casing....
Just changed the engine on my ford fiesta 2004 1.4 petrol and I have a spare connector left over and can not find we're it goes it is on the feed that goes to the reverse switch and is about 2 ft long it is a biggish black one that has 2 pins in it the car runs perfect without it being connected any ideas thanks Read more
There are two or three sensors on the gearbox One is the RPM for the ECU usind the flywheel, one for the speedo ( output drive shaft ) and the revering swicth. Regards Peter
My malfunction Indicator lamp suddenly came on the other evening and when reading the handbook it indicated it could be a fault in the engine emisson system and to get the vehicle checked by Kia dealer. Has anybody else experienced this problem and if so what was the outcome. The car is now with a Kia dealer andI am assured that the fault will be covered by the 7 year warranty. Read more

Is your car petrol or diesel.i have changed ignition coil on a friends one but it was down power and hesitating badly.also have seen timing chain slip on one.not a big deal either new tensioner and chain.
The door locks on my recently acquired 2003 golf are set in the 'hijack' mode, i.e. only drivers door lock operating when 'zapped'.
I know John has referred previous query to handbook, that states contact vw dealer. My 'local' dealer is 30 miles away. Any suggestions gratefully received. Read more

Nothing to do with this case but I just cancelled my insurance with two months outstanding-no charge.I thought that was the end of it but the next week I received a refund cheque for the two months. NFU!! not a cheapo.
