Re enstate your EGR fit a new one if required, if the problem still persists one reason is the turbo electonic actuator well documented on this forum. It is very expensive to change kills most x type Jaguars and Mondeo diesels at some time in there life.

I'm going to need to store my alloys over the winter as getting steel wheels and someone posted a link to a site that sold a tall stand allowing you to store them. I've hunted and can't find it.

Could someone point me in the right direction or post it again please?... Read more

Hi All,

At the w/end I changed the battery on my Daughters 1.4 Corsa. Started it up and it ran fine. Today, she started it up and it was revving like mad. I checked everything and all was ok. I decided to revert back to the old battery to see if it made any difference - it didn't. However, after the car had warmed up it decided to behave itself and idle. My Daughter had looked up the problem and one of the suggestions was a stuck idle control valve. I duly sprayed some WD40 around an area that looked like a valve to see if it would help. The car now starts & idles fine - but when you drive it it is very underpowered and there is a light on the dash of a car with a spanner through it. I assume the poor performance and the illuminated light are connected. Would disconnecting the battery and re-connecting it clear the problem?... Read more

Update: After a short run it settled down - even though the engine warning light was still on. Came to use it Monday (after I'd ordered the EOBD 2 tool) and the warning light went off!!! Checked it all out with my newly arrived tester and all is now well.

Thanks to those who offered advice, much appreciated....

Purchased (S/H 77000 miles) in September, in Worcester. During drive to Scotland, warning lights on dash. Stopped to investigate. Nothing seen. Started car, no warning lights. Since then, warning lights (spurious) several times. Taken to Porsche dealer. Oil press sensor needs replacing but must drop sub-frame. Porsche not sure of other warnings, needs time to investigate. Will be expensive. Do I have a case against the dealer? "We don't take returns" was their response. They supplied a warranty that has a £1000 limit. This won't go far in a Porsche dealership. Would appreciate advice on any options (apart from selling the car). Thanks. Read more

Many thanks for your positive response. I'm a long way from an independant Porsche specialist. I've put it into the local Porsche dealer. We'll see what manifests itself from the work. Looks like an earth fault....

Why is the Mitsi Outlander not more popular, Ok some people dont like the looks, but other than that on paper it should fly off the forecourts:

Competative price
Well equiped
Relatively economic

Hello,

I'm currently browsing the market for a car to replace my 2005 fiesta. Originally I was looking for something simply to get a bit more space for camping gear and the inflatable canoe and which would be a little more refined for the long distance weekend (and biannual south-england to north-east scotland) trips. I'm now finding myself adding a requirement of a daily commute of 25 miles each way for a new job - and that's to some extent really forcing the decision to change because I'm not sure I could trust my Fiesta to start every morning any more after the last couple years of expenses.... Doing the type of mileage you plan to do i.e approx 20,000 a year whch will mostly be your 25 mile each way commute and holiday trips the choice between petrol and diesel is simple, its diesel every time.

A Kia Ceed in the type of use you propose should do a genuine 55 mpg, soemthing like a Mazda 6 petrol will do 40 mpg if you are very lucky. Over a year the diesel will be approx £700 cheaper to fuel plus don't forget it will be considerably cheaper on RFL, probably over £100. That is a total of £800, not a small sum. Keep the car 3 years and you stand to save £2400....

However - if you can convince HMRC you are in UK for a set work period you can apply for a customs relief form, and keep the RoI plates - see under "students and workers":
