Had the pollution warning light come up on my 407 SW. I had noticed a stuttering of the engine when accelerating and was planning on booking it into the dealer as I still have 6 months warranty on the car.
Booked the car in and had to pay for connecting to the computer system to fault find~£80.00. Problem was a partially blocked fuel filter which I didn't have to pay for. ( I think it should have been replaced on the last service ~40k, and they didn't bother or forgot.)

Had to fit new brake pads as they were very low and due soon anyway.

So far the 407 has been fine- fast enough, smooth and comfortable. I have had the car for 6 months and it is now nearly 4 years old. I plan on keeping it for about 4-5 years, assuming it behaves itself.

The 407 is a brilliant car, you get a lot for your money and its a smooth comfortable drive. I once did a coast-to-coast in mine, middle of summer, endless traffic problems going to Scarborough, but I got there relaxed and not tired in the slightest.

Your best friend will be someone nearby with Peugeot Planet and Lexia, as they have the same equipment that dealers use but charge only "beer money" to run a diagnostic check. Some of these people aren't amateurs either and know their way around the system....

So car was fine for a few days with a new battery. Is the battery being charged ok?

There should be over 14 volts across the battery with the engine running, if not you may need a new alternator.

I have previously owned 2 Scenics & am currently looking to buy another. In a visit to a showroom last weekend I discovered that the position of the rear seat belts has been changed. In my current 2006 model the housing is located behind the rear seats but In the 2010 model it is located higher up on the side of the car. This meant that my child's car seat was actually resting on the plastic housing which doesn't seem very safe to me. It also means that when he is tall enough to no longer need his car seat the seat belt will come across his neck rather than his shoulder. This all seems a little strange for a car that is for the family market. I would very much appreciate any comments on this matter.
Thank you very much Read more

Is it because the side mounting is stronger than the previous mounting.

As regards the child seat, is your current seat actually suitable to be mounted in the newer model?...

Clutches are never covered in warranties, I'm afraid, unless a definite manufacturing fault can be found and proved, which is always very difficult. .

Liike I said in my post and the poster said above it depends on the reason for failure. If they are simply worn out or even burned out by abuse they are not covered, if its a manufacturing defect they are. Had a Golf one replced under warranty.

First time I've posted on a web site so bear with me please. I have bought a megan 52 reg 3 months ago love the car until last weekend . Car all electrics were going wipers on even though they were off ,and the engine would not turn off, managed to get it to turn off by coming of the clutch .friend of mine came out managed to get the car to start and got it home . Now it won't start says electrical fault on dash . We did notice the drains by the wipers were blocked and there was water sitting on the fuses .. So assuming the fuse box is gone . My brother manger to get hold of the same part numbered fuse box but I'm worried if we Change it does it need programming? And does any one have any helpful ideas. Would love to keep car but don't have a lot of money Read more

Probably the best technology for London taxis would be Toyota's Hybrid synergy drive. Fully automatic and durable, with pure electric drive capability, it would be far cheaper and far more practical than pure electric or plug in. Local emissions of nitrogen dioxide and particulates would be much lower than the equivalent diesel. Read more

The way I see this is that if the injection system is losing fuel pressure either through the injector seals or tandem pump, then you are going to have starting problems. There is no monitoring of the high pressure fuel system on these,so a diagnostic tester will not show any pressure loss in the system.hth

Hi guys,

I've just seen this ad on autotrader and it looks too good to be true (which I understand it normally is) but it seems to be with a dealer.

Any thoughts?

Close inspection of the photos indicates a fairly grubby car. Stained seats, scraped leather off the steering wheel and those tinted windows would put me off as would a dealer with no land line.
