Adressing the theme of how can we use technology to the benefit of 'decent, honest hardworking Familes' (to paraphrase DC) then two items in the Birmingham Mail gave me an idea for discussion in the HJ Forum, namely those offenders associated with habitual crimes such as car theft, or dangerous driving/driving whilst disqualified could be fitted with an electronic tag that automatically imobilises any car they attempt to drive - in the same way that all modern cars are imobilised until the valid ignition key is detected/inserted by the built in security systems.
The two links below are posted as examples and to encourage you to give your support to demand the introduction of this or similar technology: ... Read more
Was driving from the A3 along Bushey rd (A298) and up to Morden, where there is a cycle path alongside the road for a good stretch, and a "gentleman" on a bike with very small wheels was wobbling along in lane 1 of the road when he would have been a lot safer in the sperated cycle lane.

Next to the A570, also known as the Rainford bypass, there is a newly surfaced and painted, wide, smooth, thoroughly EU-approved cycle path. And still the lycra clad heroes insist on using the dual carriageway, because they're too "bad" I suppose.
I guess it's the same mindset that makes joggers run in the gutter when there is a perfectly decent pavement alongside? Maybe they get an extra frisson of excitement?
can anybody enlighten me regarding the significance of a fault code reading 0276 which states....incorrect position of the intake camshaft(left)---Intermittent. Read more
Bicycle chains 'stretch' owing to wear at the numerous hinges, so I suppose car chains do too, especially if the oil is dirty. I think chain stretch was a problem with some Nissan engines. Perhaps it is intermittent because the now slightly awry timing is on the borderline of triggering a fault, so sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't - a bit like the old 'low fuel' light which flickers at first and then remains fully on as the fluctuating surface sinks well below the borderline level.
Does anyone know whether camchains stretch more than modern cambelts for the same amount of wear? I wonder if there has been a comparison in an engineering laboratory?...
C14SE High Emissions
I have a 1995 Corsa B Sport with C14SE engine. (no EGR)
I have renewed in the last 18 months or so.;
Ignition module
Plugs
Leads
Crank sensor
idle control valve
Throttle position sensor and removed the three way connector as per GM recommendation
Air flow sensor
Air filter
Lambda sensor
Skimmed the head and new gaskets, bolts and seals following a gasket blowout between #3&4.
Filter is clean.
recent oil and filter change.
Coolant consumption minimal, oil consumption 1L per 6,000Km
Failed test on High emissions;
CO 7.82% Idle
CO 12.15% Idle accelerated
Lambda 0.685
opacity? 9.7 M1
Only spec I can find is 172g/km. as std.
The wife drives this on motorways most days 130Km a day and has at times complained of very high tick over of 2,000rpm which lasts for several minuets, sometimes until she switches off, sometimes it continues. but I drove it for two days and not a blip, just goes like stink!
High fuel consumption has always been a problem with 20mpg 11L/100km being normal.
Colour on all 4 plugs 'beige', normal.
I read somewhere 35 mpg 6.5L/100km should be normal.
No EM light, no codes. nothing on paperclip test.
Any ideas
