Can anybody help. My wife’s Vauxhall corsa D (1300 diesel - 09 plate) will not rev above 1000 revs. When started it kicks out a lot of smoke and idles just below 1000 revs. Putting your foot on the throttle makes no difference. The engine will not rev up.at all. This problem started a few weeks ago. It happened 3 times in a week. After the engine was switched off for about 5 minutes and then re-started it was ok. Since then its been for a service The same problem occurred last week but managed to get it going a few minutes later. This time (Monday gone) the problem has come back. This time the problem is persisting. Will only rev at about 1000 and kicks out a lot of smoke. Had to get car recovered to local garage. They got someone in and linked an expensive diagnostic machine to it. No faults show up. No faults (or codes) on the dash. Headgasket ok. No contamination in fuel. The diagnostic man does not know what is wrong with it. The garage don’t know what’s wrong. Can anybody help me ???
anyone used servicingstop company for a car service?
I used them recently as the price quoted was cheaper than toyota and they would collect/return the car. BUT I had to pay £32.50 for headlight aim adjust and £45 for a handbrake adjustment on top of the service/mot cost which made a total bill of £328.60.... Read more
So-the invoice for service and front discs was made out and submitted after the customer had declined the additional brake work?
Hi, my father has a 2008 Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 Diesel with an Automatic Gearbox. If he leaves the car for just a few days, when he gets in it, he selects the gear he wants, Auto, reverse etc, but he has to rev the car up to about 2000 revs before the actual gearbox bits which at this point the car shoots forward or reverse.
Obviosuly, this could cause a problem if he was parked between to cars. Once the car has run for a bit, the gearbox is fine and no issues. I am quite concerned as he is 70 years old so his reaction is not as got as it used to be.... Read more
Hi buddy...Im at the same point as you. I believe it's the clutch actuator so have changed it. Since then I'm getting intermittent starting issues/changing gear issues. Any joy as I'm looking at getting clutch relearn but don't really want to pay dealer prices.
Hi people,
I am totally new to this forum as you can tell but I see that most people on here gives great advice so I figured I'd pick your brains.... Read more
@mickeybay:
I've driven from the UK to Latvia before (1300 miles one way), admittedly in the summer but it did give me an idea of crossing borders etc. We had no problems whatsoever crossing borders and it worked out for most of them that we were crossing at night. I had only just bought the car back then (Audi A5 2.7 TDI oh how I miss it) and hadn't received the new V5 by then so only went with the little slip ripped off the original. There was some issues at the Poland-Lithuania border because of this but then they just went into their little car, checked the European database, saw that I owned it and we were on our way....
I have a MB C Class with the optional COMAND System (although I do not think that matters to this post as the same may apply to the non COMAND version) and get frustrated that I cannot switch the lights on for the buttons on the centre console/COMAND APS. The light switch is always left in auto mode and the car will switch the head lights on when necessary but not illuminate the switch gear in the car. Only when the interior reaches another level of darkness will they illuminate. I have tried switching the side lights on and this does not illuminate them either. In my previous 3 series it was simples - when the headlights came on automatically the interior switch gear also lit up. But this does not happen in the C Class. Does anyone have any idea how to ensure the interior illuminates when the head lights automatically come on ? Read more

Is the 1.3 multijet engine a safe engine if the timing chain snaps. I have a 2007 Doblo Cargo with a snapped chain and would like to know if its worth spending any money looking at a repair.

The valve stems won't bend because they are perpendicular to the piston crown, not inclined at an angle. But the impact of the piston will have been transferred through relatively thin stems which could leave them weakened. If a valve head were to detach from its stem while the engine was running...
Hi all,
Hoping to get a bit of advice. I have a Citroen C1 (Rhythm, 2008) with a manual gearbox, and an issue has developed within the last day or so.... Read more
if it fails you will end up unable to disengage the clutch but if you put it in gear and start it and 'feel' your way into the gears you should be able to drive it if you are reasonably experienced. You need to leave plenty of space between you and the car in front, I have driven a car over 100 miles with no clutch and of course on the motorway its a doddle.
I once drove from Ipswich to Edinburgh with no clutch (admittedly years ago with less traffic) so the hints above are good - anticipate coming up to traffic lights etc, turn off if you have to stop and unless on an uphill road should have no problem starting after engaging first or even second....
my picasso has started stuttering when driving, if i just lightly touch the accelarator its not to bad but if i give it power its as if its missing a spark or something like that, PLEASE HELP!! Read more
Hi, took the coil pack off and it was very dirty / oily, cleaned up and put back on and it is running a bit better, I take it it would be a good idea to get a replacement coil pack, would it be worth getting a second hand one that looks better than my one??
I searched as well as possible using the forum search tool, but couldn't find any related topics.
I just changed the battery in my 2004 Berlingo, and now it won't start.
It turns over (Much better now!) but does not start.
The genuine Citroen RCL fob still unlocks/locks, but now it will not start the vehicle.
Is there a re-coding sequence?
Thanks for any help! Read more
NOW I know what you meant!! :-D

hiya guys, at a real loose end. Could really do with some help. i have a ford galaxy 2.3 ghia t reg.
form the begiining.
i was driving on motorway and then power went. everything stopped and got it to side of road. Tried starting it and it turned over nicely but no firing up. The aa came out and kept trying and they found there was no power to the fuel pump switch (ineartha). towed it to a ford dealers in bishops stortford and they had it for 18 days. They removed the aftermarket alarm and checked the relays. the car now doesn't even turn over but this could be the battery cos nothing works in the car now. After 18 days they wanted to charge me £1800 for diagnosis fee. told them to swivel as they hadnt diagnosed it. got the car back home and searched online. Relay 30 kept coming up so i ordered one and replaced it. charged the battery up after it being dead for 2 monthes. The fuel pump now makes a sound but still not turning over. Theres power to the starter motor and i gave the coil a little knock but still nothing.
Tried jump starting and no turning over. Tried bump starting and nothing again. Ford left all the fuse box hanging down so i can get to all the relays. checked them all, all the fuses are fine. checked cables, fine. Had a look at the ignition barrel and it seems it has been changed. as turn the key one click, two click and then third click makes a spark sound.
I.m literally at a loose end and really don't want to get rid of the car as its not worth much scrap and its the first car i really enjoy driving. Please any advice or help would be greatly apprteciated. Thank you and look forward to the replies Read more
That is one option . You will need to swap the engine ecu and immobiliser box ( if fitted) ignition key lock barrel and reader. If everything is matched, then no programming needed. Access to the ecu is a pain , you may need to remove the dash . However, after all that work, i'm not convinced this will solve your problem.

I have exactly the same problem as the original post, did anybody get to the bottom of it, replaved the turbo, disconnected the exhaust and changed the fuel filter, im running out of options.
