Hi
I have a problem with my near side headlight. Basically it isn't coming on. I've checked the bulb and fuse, both in good order. There's 12v present at the fuse but not at the bulbs connector. There doesn't appear to be a continuity problem. I'm wondering if it's the stalk switch at fault (the main beam works on the affected headlight)
Would I be right in thinking the voltage goes through the fuse, through the switch and then to the bulb?
Also: pathetic question, but how do I shift the covers on the steering column? I've had a brief look around and can't see any obvious screw mounts.
Any help, suggestions or wiring diagrams would be great :)

Any ideas of how to solve an annoying glove box squeak type rattle.
Have been to the local Nissan agent and have tried to resolve but the rattle seems to be coming from the roof of the glove box. I am not sure if it something to do with the air con that is contained in the glove box...... Read more

Jamie, your entitled to your opinion.
I am aware all cars can fail, however the chances of a 2010 vs 2005 car failing are more in my favour with the newer car. The peugeot had experienced a couple of issues and the costs were quite large. Factor this into the toal equation and I'm happy with my purchase....

Hi, there!

A relative was involved in an accident on the M40 some years ago, and is now very nervous about driving, especially on motorways. Does anyone have experience of a good course to overcome the problem? Read more
I should think 90% of drivers on a given stretch of motorway at any one time don't want to be there - from HGV drivers anxious to get home, White Van Man rushing to his next pick-up, Great Uncle Basil on his way to a funeral of someone he hardly knew etc. etc.
I have rented my flat for 4 years, and recently some parking signs went up from Parking Collection Services on the resident's car park. On Wednesday 21st November, my housing association sent out a parking permit to all residents to stick in the car.
Unfortunately I was away from home and on the following Monday 26th of November I got a parking ticket outside my flat. I wrote to the company saying that I lived there and wouldn't be paying. They have said that it doesn't matter that I live there, as I breached the t and c on the signs.... Read more
Hello Basil, firstly, do not part with any money at all. What you have is an invoice for a percieved breach of contract. The only way it can be enforced is through the Small Claims Court. This court is a civil court and works on the balance of probabilities and how reasonable contract terms are. In this case you clearly are a resident with rights to park. Also, through circumstance you were unaware of the new parking terms imposed, the balance of probabilities indicates you would have abided by the terms had you been aware. The mere technicality of a minor breach of terms will be secondary. Because it did not disadvantage or cause loss to the landlord. Therefore you are in a good position, so hold your nerve. However, I would approach the landlord, very politely and in writing, to explain your position and express your dismay at this invoice being issued. Request that they intervene and have their parking agent revoke the invoice, as you are prepared to defend a court case, which would incur them some costs when they lost. Send a copy of your letter to the parking company with a seperate letter to them stating that you are contesting the invoice and are willing to defend your case in court. Also when they lose, the costs will be born by them. State that no further correspondence will be entered into regarding this matter and you will consider a complaint against them of harrassment if they persist. The only correspondence you should take note of is from your landlord or the Small Claims Court. Don't worry about the court, is costs nothing to defend yourself and you will receive help from the officials about procedure, and you will win. I think you have more chance of a ride on Flipper than receive a court summons. Good luck and let us know the outcome. Cheers Concrete

I have a new B-Max which is generally a nice car. However, I have discovered that it is leaking rainwater very badly in the offside boot area. Has anyone else had similar problems? The car is under a one year warranty and is back in the garage but one of my concerns is long term water damage and rust as I had intended keeping the car for several years. Read more
This doesn't bode well for the oft-quoted "German build quality" of Fords these days, given how many journalists like to make a big thing of their improvements. Let's hope they didn't use the VW Eos as their template for water-proofing.

Hi Guys I could use some advice please.
Yesterday morning I started the car and the starter motor sounded like it was engaging and disengaging while spinning. The problem went away during the day but now it's come back this morning and sounds worse - it's not engaging and I have to release the ignition key and retry to start the engine.... Read more
To test a betteery properly it needs to be tested under load. An no load reading does not show the capacity of the battery, a dud battery will often show a healthy voltage but as soon as load is put on it the voltage will drop like a stone.
