Hello,

My C3 has recently started intermittently displaying the orange engine lamp on the dash and LCD shows "Anti-Pollusion system fault". Usually the error goes away the next day. I've booked it into a Citreon garage who are going to take a look at it. Has anyone experienced this and how much did a repair set you back? The car does have a 12 month Citroen Select used car warranty (it's an 06 reg and I bought it last July) - will this problem be covered in that?

Thank you  Read more

Citroen polution warning, repair not covered by Citroen Select warranty. I dont think anything else is coverd by Citroen warranty. Or what warranty.

Hey i own a passat 2.0 20v petrol sport 52reg i have owned this for about a year now and the fuel consumption is getting considerably worse. I used to get roughly 100 miles to £20 which is about 400 miles to a full tank which is £80 which i was quite happy with. Now i am lucky if i get 50 miles to £20 and 250 miles max to a full tank just wondering if anyone else had come across this or any one know how to fix this issue.

thanks in advance. Read more

I have bought a set of winter tyres and wheels for my wife's 2011 Honda Jazz but there is no jack supplied with this car. I have a hydraulic trolley jack but am unsure of the best place on the car to position it. Can anyone recommend a suitable place? Read more

The jacking point on teh Jazz is specially strengthened. To damage it requires ineptness which even a tyre fitter might struggle with.

Hi,

I have a huge problem with my seat Leon. A week ago it worked normally, before it went to minus temp and snow. After which I tried it again (roughly 5 days after the cold started), and no start. You can hear some winding noise, before it gives up. The warning lights fire up:... Read more

Thanks again guys...

Interesting what happened.I asked a mechanic to come out,and we setteled for meeting at the car. And,their diagnose was the engine is dead, a new one is needed. As apparently the engine :14l,16v vw engine has a common problem with the oil pump on freezing temperatures. ,as we had this problem before,it seemed possible, but last year when the oil played up,i could pure oil and drive it to the service.this didnt even start now....

Dear Honest John,

I purchased a BMW M3 CS from Beck Evans in Sidcup on 29th September this year. This is my 5th BMW and my 3rd 'M' so I know a bit about them. I paid £12,000 (partly though Close Motor Finance) the vehicle had covered 75,000 miles on a '55 plate. I arrived at the dealership at the pre-arranged time to collect my vehicle and was told "its not here - the boss has been driving it". Now in hindsight I should have compalined about this and I would have had I of known of things to come....... Read more

I wish to report a very positive recent experience with Beck Evans, as I have also reported on other threads on this forum. About 2 months ago I purchased a 2005 BMW 325i estate. After driving it for a week or so, it became clear that the car was burning far too much oil, and subsequent tests confirmed this and suggested some sort of engine wear problem. So I contacted Beck Evans and asked for my money back: after running their own tests, they took the car back and gave me a full refund. Can't say fairer than that! [And I should point out that it's perfectly possible that they weren't aware of the problem when they sold me the car, since it only becomes apparent after you've driven a couple of hundred miles.]

So I can't comment on other peoples' experiences, but certainly my own recent experience has been entirely positive.

Hi I have had a Mazda 6 sport 2.2 diesel (183bhp) since December 2009 and I have been having heating problems for the last 18 months or so. The car has been into Mazda 3 times (the last time in March) when it had the head gasket replaced under warranty as it was cracked. This fixed the problem for a few months however on the 26 November the engine had a major breakdown and stalled on the motorway slip road.

just out of interest do you know how much a new mazda 6 2.2 litre diesel sport would cost roughly. They are asking me for 40% of the total cost which comes in at £2300 which seems a lot as this would meen the engine plus fitting should cost £5300 does this sound right

I thought Fords were owned by an American company with most of there production in Europe with most engines bought in but for the life in me I cannot see what the difference where an engine is made determines how difficult a job would be.Would it not be better to look at a repair manual before you start.

2003.5MY Zafira Z18XE manual 85,000 miles.

I recently replaced the coil pack which cured a misfire. Within days it started to occasionally stall at low speed/revs and refusing to start again. It does it maybe 1 in 20 stop/starts. When it stalls, both the engine management light (which is the car with a spanner in it) and the exhaust emission light (pic of an engine) flash quickly. The engine will then turn over, but not fire. When you turn the ignition off and on again, without cranking the engine, the exhaust emission light flashes quickly 4 or 5 times. After anything from 2 to 20 more attempts at starting and/or waiting 10 minutes, when turning the ignition on the exhaust emission light does not flash and the car will start normally. This has happened with both keys.... Read more

Of course, the Vauxhall diagnostics declared that the ECU was at fault, and had I left it to Vauxhall to fix, I'd have been seriously out of pocket. That's not to say a new ECU wouldn't have cured the problem. The diagnostics showed a 'spike' in the system which was obviously being created by the aftermarket coil pack, but a new ECU might have been able to handle it without shutting the whole system down.
