Air leak in the fuel system allowing the fuel to 'run back'???

Happy Blue!

Currently overseas for a few days and have rented a Nissan Juke with 1.6 litre petrol engine and CVT auto gearbox.

Impressions are positive on the family as well as the drivers (SWMBO and myself), with a good ride on balloony tyres (16" steel wheels) and comfortable driving position. Surprisingly economical for a petrol with a mix of some motorway driving and serious traffic jams equating to about 45mpg. ... Read more

Get them to fit the optional Centre Arm Rest, or even better buy one yourself and slot it in (You really don't need to use the fixing bolts).

In fact the armrest should really be standard fit as it makes long journeys much more comfortable.

The sensor is located in the bottom of the passenger door mirror, I have not yet changed one in a 406 but have recently fitted one in a C5 and for that you have to remove the mirror glass but I think maybe the shell comes off the back of the 406 mirror if it has the same mirrors as my Hdi.

The symptoms you describe are typical of sensor failure. Unfortunately I have only found these to be available from the dealer at around £30.00, you could get a secondhand one but you need to test it first as they are prone to failure with age and high mileage....

As im new, and im waiting up on Christmas morning sorting stuff out for the younger members of the family, I thought I would post, with some background etc incase my responses are read elsewhere!

I have worked in the motor trade for a number of years, both in repair and in sales for 2 major manufacturers. A huge amount of cars have passed through my hands, both personally and through work and this has meant ive been at the sharp end of many problems and issues with pretty much everything. I have strict requirements for my cars and there are only a few I will spend my own money on.... Read more

''edit...I have Uniroyal Rainsports on my MX-5. It's hard to get excited about tyres but they are very grippy and good quality!''

Vredestein Sportracs get well reported for your car too Bobbin, it amazes me just how many people will spend fortunes on their cars, best polishes, upgrades, valetting etc and then won't spend an extra £20 each for something that is the only point of contact with the road.

I will bear that in mind when I come to buy new tyres - it's the only 'car' thing I dislike researching for some reason, and the recommendations on here are handy.

Driving in traffic is more than just knowing how to operate the mechanisms which control the vehicle; it requires knowing how to apply the rules of the road . An effective driver also has an intuitive understanding of the basics ofvehicle handling and can drive responsibly.

thanks for the replys ,wer is the dpf located and u say it can be cleaned how do i go about that and waht to look out for?cheers guys

DPF's cannot be cleaned. Once blocked thats it, replacement time. What Collos means is does it need regenerating which takes place while you are driving. On Peugeot HDI cars there is a seperate Eolys tank that needs topping up occationally, if it empties the DPF will not be able to regenerate and thus will block up....
