Having major problems with this Clio in starting the car. Starts great sometimes but sometimes it can take 30 or 40 turn overs till the car fires. We have changed the crank shaft sensor, earth lead from battery, checked wiring loom at bulkhead, fitted new Control Temperature Sensor but still having major problems. Had it linked up to computer diagnostics and its not showing any faults. Have read on this site about a quick fix via the ignition but not sure what the guys on about.
Please can someone help - Urgent Read more

Interesting when compared to the rumours of Honda ceasing sales of the Japanese-built Accord in the UK.... Read more
Had the car for three months with no problems. Went to start this morning and the problems started. Started fine but had a loud noise coming from the back seat then it cut out. Changed fuel pump and engine ticked over fine but any pressure on the accelerator it just cuts out. Now I'm lost. Checked the injector breather valve and let it run for about 20 mins. Idleing fine but the same problem. Any push on the gas pedal it just cuts out.
Update. Disconnected battery and left for 10 mins. Started engine back up and now it seem if its not running on all cylinders.
Update. Have checked sensors and sprayed with wd40. Now cuts out straight away after starting. Also battery seems to have drained. At a dead end now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Read more

Interesting point here, if I can be forgiven for straying for motoring for a moment!
We have our cars serviced per the schedule, and the boiler every other year - but we've never had a washing machine or dishwasher serviced. The washing machine is over 20 years old and we bought a new dishwasher last year to replace one which had soldiered on for 25 years (and was still working although it had started to leak)....
Just bought a camper van....Hiace 2001...import from Japan and am told to get it rust treated as they don't do it over there due to not salting the roads in winter. Is this needed?
Below is an extract from http://www.allansvehicleservices.co.uk/21432/index.html
'WHY DON'T JAPANESE IMPORTS HAVE RUSTPROOFING: The climate in Japan is generally drier than ours. The Japanese don't use salt or grit on their roads, preferring to rely on Winter tyres. This means that the bodywork of an import is generally in much better condition than a UK model of similar age. Apply a liberal amount of rustproofing to help maintain that condition and 10 years from now, it could still be looking as good as new.'...
Absolutely mortified! just got my driving licence and went out practicing today only to discover my mum had not yet transferred my name re:insurance & the car was seized and I was told I would get 6 points on my licence resulting in it being revoked. I have already presented all my documentation at the police station but now what is left is this issue of the licence possibly being revoked.
Is there any way at all around this & is it worth going to court instead of just paying the fine? Read more
Has anyone got any more constructive advice for the original poster? If not, I'll lock the thread.
What cosnstructive advice do you want us to give the OP....
Of-side headlight unit OK. Condensation forms and doesn't go away in off-side unit It abscures about 50%+ (lower half) but dealership say it is not a warranty matter nor a safety issue. Apparently gas discharge lamps give off a gas which condenses on the glass and should disperse, as it does in the off-sdie unit. Anyone with information or comment. Read more
That is a translation from German to English of the OFFICIAL VAG Technical Product Information release, if the exact language is a little off I can provide you with the release in German so you can see if their scientific interpretation of the gaseous state of water is correct or not, to me you are just being pedantic. I think you should write to a certain Mrs Tina Turner and tell her she should change the name of her hit song to “condensed windows”, mind you it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it….
hi,
does anyone know if a toyota engine can fit into a 405? there is a lack of spares where am located so 95% of these cars are grounded Read more
You tag into to the reversing light switch + side for the fuel shut off solenoid feed, and you,ll need the filler neck from a diesel as the petrol is smaller and you won't be able to put diesel in it, did loads of these in the early nineties, simple conversion, you can also fit the 1.9 td engine , just as easy .
hi my 04 plate deisel hyundai getz starts up fime but sees to be getting no fuel, driving but bearly moving i've also got black smoke coming from exhaust can anyone please advise ,,,, many thks
If you are getting black smoke you have diesel, simple as that. Black smokem eans it is not burning properly which probably indicates a timing issue. Suggest you get a diesl specialist to look at it.
Hi, I am in need of help .. I have just bought a 2004 Caddy 1.9TDi from a guy in the UK, I live in France.
I was conned and sold a lemon. Anyway there were so many problems and in the first week the belt snapped !! Okay a new 38000 mile engine complete other than the turbo, a new clutch and flywheel and belts etc etc...
The problem basically is what it was doing in the beginning. All seems fine then the the power drops, it belches out smoke and sometimes makes a noise, something like diesel knock. Not all the time but quite often, but then it can just come back to life. Round the streets and small trips it is not so bad but on the highway it is worst.
I have a diagnostic tool and nothing is showing at all , no DTCs ...
And trying to find a mechanic in France is less likely than finding the remains of a unicorn in your cereal box !!... Read more
Which diagnostic tool are you using?

I moved your previous thread to Technical, where this type of query belongs. You updated that thread today, and then start another one, quite needlessly, in the wrong place, again.
Give us a break. Thread locked.
