An annoying fault has appeared. Message pops up on screen"Blind spot Monitor "not working. Message stays on until engine switched off. Can occur any time between 2 miles & 100. Is there an easy cheap remedy rather that take it to Jags for an indeterminate time (& money) Read more

If hit by an uninsured driver and vehicle damages ,claim pursued through a solicitor and subsequently via the mib does the person have to declare the accident to their insurer? Read more

RT

Sorry, I was not clear enough. The claim has been settled in our favour through mib. Do I declare the accident to insurer as we did not claim through them but went with a solicitor who dealt with mib.

You've still made a claim, through the solicitor - most policies ask about "any accidents, claims or convictions" so you need to declare on two points.

Hi all first post on here, I was involved in a car accident a few months ago and im slowly but surely getting back to full fitness. Unfortunetely i had to give up the job i was doing due to the injuries sustained. Anyway im looking to start up trading in the next few months and just looking for some advice from any traders on here.I'll be trading from home having just secured a decent unit on a farm to store, prep cars etc. I'm a qualified mechanic so i know my way around cars although iv been off the tools for a few years. Can anyone recommend a decent trade insurance company? Any idea on website cost( Autotrader). Just really looking for general feedback from the guys that are doing this.

Could someone please tell me how the cylinders are numbered so that I can change a faulty glow plug Read more

Collos25

If its 6 cylider V then from the front LH bank are 1,3,5 and RH bank 2,4,6.

Before you try to remove a glow plug from the engine I suggest you douse it in WD40 and leave overnight if you break it taking it out it will prove mighty expensive and these engines are renown for stuck glowplugs.

unlucky or not

had the car from new, less then 2 years old 15,000 miles on the clock. On the dual carriageway, clutch failed. Car towed back to main dealer who said it was not covered under the warranty and i had to pay £650 as it was considered to be "drivers misuse". Only 2 days before i had it in the dealership for its service. Surely this cannot be right. Read more

Ask them to prove driver fault.....how many other clutches have gone on you before? Look on the net for other instances on the net re Citroen clutches. I would contact Citroen direct and strongly deny any fault on your part.

Just bought a 2006 multijet Fiat Panda to replace our aged Peugeot 106 1.5 non-turbo diesel. Here in rural Wales (no need to sit in traffic queues), the 106 averaged around 70mpg (that's miles travelled divided by fuel used, true mpg) and never did <65. On its first tankful the Panda has done 62mpg, and that's the same 2 drivers on the same routes. It also seems more gutless than the 106 under about 2500rpm, and yet its peak torque is supposed to be at about 1500rpm, about 1000 less than the 106. The odd thing is, the 106 was bigger, heavier, had an old generation mechanically controlled indirect injection diesel, and was pretty much worn out (which is why we changed it). It wasn't a fluke, it was the second 106 diesel we had and the first was equally economical. The Panda seems to run ok, no warning lights stay on, it just seems a bit of a poor show that with all its computer controlled engine management, an inherently more efficient direct injection diesel is using more fuel to haul around less weight more slowly. Could it have a fault that the on-board diagnostics doesn't know about? And could we use our warranty (it came from a dealer with 3 months portable warranty) to get it checked out by an engine management buff? It's a bit beyond me, I come from the predigital era but we've been forced into the 21st century by the lack of peugeot 106 diesels that have done less than about 150k miles. Any ideas? Read more

I have possibly been an idiot and put in diesel to my carb based petrol engine (if so it would be about 40/60 diesel/petrol). The reason I think this is the car was running fine, put in fuel... drove 300 yards and it coughed and spluttered its way to where I was able to pull it over. I checked dizzy and sparks on the spot and they all seemed fine, so I am assuming I probably put diesel in the engine.

I've left the car where it is, and was thinking about syphoning out any fuel in the tank replacing it with petrol, and seeing if it will run through. Has anyone got any advice on the matter? Either to tell me to go ahead with it, or to definitely not do it!

Sniffing alone won't do it, Diesel doesn't smell like it used to.

I've had Diesel in a jerry can previously used for petrol and you really couldn't be too sure which was which (ended up with a spoonful in a saucer and a thrown match), almost half and half mixture i reckon a bloodhound wouldn't tell by smell alone....

GHSAUNDERS40

Hi all.
Hoping you can help me. To cut a long story short, we called into our local Toyota dealer to look at an iQ. We had been interested in the car do opted to get some figures put together whilst on the test drive. Before we got to this point, the dealer informed us that are Aygo which was bought from them 3 years ago also as an approved used car had no service history before 2009. When we bought the car we had been promised the car had a full Toyota history, as per Toyota approved requirements. If I had known the car had a partial history I would never had bought it, let alone paid £400 more than the equivalent car at Arnold Clark at the time. The dealer had told us the car is worth £300 less as a result. I have mailed the dealer principal, however where do I stand on this 3 years on?

Many thanks. Read more
