Toyota Aygo - Toyota approved used dishonesty? - GHSAUNDERS40
Hi all.
Hoping you can help me. To cut a long story short, we called into our local Toyota dealer to look at an iQ. We had been interested in the car do opted to get some figures put together whilst on the test drive. Before we got to this point, the dealer informed us that are Aygo which was bought from them 3 years ago also as an approved used car had no service history before 2009. When we bought the car we had been promised the car had a full Toyota history, as per Toyota approved requirements. If I had known the car had a partial history I would never had bought it, let alone paid £400 more than the equivalent car at Arnold Clark at the time. The dealer had told us the car is worth £300 less as a result. I have mailed the dealer principal, however where do I stand on this 3 years on?

Many thanks.

Do I understand you correctly a car you want to p/ex you bought 3 years ago at a Toyota main agents.Have you not looked at the service book before you bought it or in the three years you have owned it.I would not have thought after all this time given you have had three years to querie the history that you have any redress maybe they can come to some arrangement with the car you are about to buy.

Unfortunately when buying a car whatever you are told has to be assumed to be a lie.

If they say it has FSH get documentary evidence, main dealers can print out full histories while you wait. Don't sign until you have seen it, even more so when buying from Arnold Shark. If they sold it as an approved vehicle and it wasn't I'd be sending a letter to Toyota UK head honcho complaining about one of their dealerships.

Of course Arnold Shark are also using this discrepancy to fleece you second time around. Sell the Aygo privately, you will get much more.

Our 6 year old one would cost at least £4,000 to replace, what have you been offered for yours?

Hi,
I think because the problem is three years old you have little or no chance of redress .
However with regard to the car itself ,how many services did it actually miss ,how many stamps were missing .Has the car given you any problems .Did you have the car serviced by Toyota after you bought it .How old is the car now .

In general I think it's likely that the dealer who is trying to sell the IQ ,is using the service history issue as a way to justify offering a low price for your part exchange . Rather than get involved in a ruck with the dealer who sold the AYGO ,find another IQ and try for a better deal ,or sell the AYGO yourself and take a discount on the IQ .

Under value T/I by £300,

Over value new 2nd hand car £300 - extra £600 on margin........

OK for the dealer poor value for the punter.
