Before you go removing the EGR i would get a diagnostic done , it is possible it is the egr sticking but it could be a number of other faults too, map sensor etc. OBD2 diagnostic testers are so cheap now £20 upwards its madness to guess at faults.

I have 1 you can use if your in the derby area.

thanx guys ,well i took ur advice and went and got a test done on car,2 faults came up -

partical filter

exhaust sensor on rear of manifold

ive been quoted €450 euro for the partical filter and €120 for the sensor

now the guy in the garage before he put it on the diagnostics took it for a drive and said he dident really see it been down in power!

he put it on the computer and it went thru the various tests and during this it kept revs at 3000 revs for 3 minutes-the guy said this was to clear the fault with the paertical filter,at the time it done this loads of blackish smoke came outa exhaust

so he tested it again and watever reading he got in 1st place which i think was 530 was down to 0-

he said that the sensor at the rear of the manifold was faulty as it stayed at 140 throughout the test so dat needed to be changed

at the end of it i was charged €40 for the test, the guy said to drive it for a couple weeks a see how it goes

problen is i dunno what to do now ?there is a slighly more power in it now

do i change the exhaust sensor and what difference will it make ?

and will it give me more power?

also can this sensor be changed by myself ?-is it easily accesable ?

cheers paul

I had a similar problem with my Dispatch HDi so had the ecu remapped for 136PS. Much better.

Also buy decent diesel and use Millers Eco Max every tank full. I get 2mpg more from Jet than Tesco.

DPF's cannot be cleaned. Once blocked thats it, replacement time. What Collos means is does it need regenerating which takes place while you are driving. On Peugeot HDI cars there is a seperate Eolys tank that needs topping up occationally, if it empties the DPF will not be able to regenerate and thus will block up.

No doubt a Peugeot expert will be along to tell you how to check but suspect it may be a specialist job, sure it needs a Peugeot only reset after a refil.
