Peugeot 406 - Outside tempreture display - Steffan12

Seasons greetings to all.

I'm trying to find out what the outside tempreture display would be in the Peugeot 406.

I know it displays the outside temp but what happenes when it hits freezing? Does it display a snowflake and/or flash with the tempreture, is their any particular colour of the display and is it in degres C or F.

Thanks for any help.

The text below is what someone posted some time ago, wonder if they could gat in touch.

The external air temperature reading on the in-car LED display has become very erratic giving temperatures up to 20 degress higher than the actual outside temperature. Does anyone know where the sender is located so that I can check it ?

Additionally, the left-handside backlight illumination of the Climate Control LED display panel has gone very dull. Is this just a case of replacing a bulb or is the display faulty ?

Any help or comments would be much appreciated.

The sensor is located in the bottom of the passenger door mirror, I have not yet changed one in a 406 but have recently fitted one in a C5 and for that you have to remove the mirror glass but I think maybe the shell comes off the back of the 406 mirror if it has the same mirrors as my Hdi.

The symptoms you describe are typical of sensor failure. Unfortunately I have only found these to be available from the dealer at around £30.00, you could get a secondhand one but you need to test it first as they are prone to failure with age and high mileage.

You don't need to remove the door panel you can just cut the wires in the mirror and join them to the new one, preferably by soldering and sleeving them, it doesn't matter which way round they go.

The display panel problem is probably just a bulb gone.
