Hi just fitted new rear dusk and pads to my car. Also new n/s rear caliper.
Problem. Cannot get a brake pedal, it's goes to the floor when pressed. Have run at least 3 litres of fluid through it using 2 man bleed. Have tried it with new master cylinder fitted, still same.
Any ideas TIA Read more
If the hose wasnt clamped the ABs unit will need bleeding and this has to be done with a diagnostic tool to put the ABS pump into run mode.
I seem to remember you can bleed the ABS pump with all the wheels rotating and engine running but will be fun trying to do on a drive.
Hi
I have a problem with my near side headlight. Basically it isn't coming on. I've checked the bulb and fuse, both in good order. There's 12v present at the fuse but not at the bulbs connector. There doesn't appear to be a continuity problem. I'm wondering if it's the stalk switch at fault (the main beam works on the affected headlight)
Would I be right in thinking the voltage goes through the fuse, through the switch and then to the bulb?
Also: pathetic question, but how do I shift the covers on the steering column? I've had a brief look around and can't see any obvious screw mounts.
Any help, suggestions or wiring diagrams would be great :)

Does any one know whether the 2008 petrol 2.0 Mondeo engine has a steel cam belt or a rubber one? Does it need changing - and if so when does it need changing? Grateful for advice. Read more
They are all chain drive with one exception, I understand that the 1.6 in the latest generation MK4 is a belt cam drive, as it is based on the Yamaha designed Zetec-SE engine of which the roots go back to 1995.
Purchased car 10 months ago from garage, had nothing but trouble with it and regret ever buying it. Problem this time is I was changing from 1st gear to 2nd, and then a loss of movement and had to be towed home. Engine starts, goes into gear but driveshafts not turning, can hear movement, not grinding. Car wont move anywhere. Have been told (without inspection), it could be DMF problem. Any ideas?? Thanks. The 1.9 is especially prone to losing one side of the friction lining, bits of material everywhere. When doing a clutch on a car with a dual mass flywheel, always fit a new DMF, never re-use the old one it is false economy.

I'm puzzled by the apparent lack of any investigative work to show that removing the sump is the next logical step.
Have you checked the working oil pressure? the operation of the low pressure switch? the wiring?

My sister got locked out of her car yesterday.
She left her keys on the seat in the car and closed the door by mistake. It immediately locked her out, had to get a locksmith to get her back in.... Read more
The only thing I can think of then, is that the car requires the drivers door to be opened in order to release the self relocking. A stupid logic if you ask me, but early cars with this system did have it this way. A properly engineered system would allow you to open any door.

Noticed puddle of water in the tyre well, dealership are having it for a week early Jan to remove bumper etc, luckily I was able to photograph where it was dripping in from inside vents directley below lock. I asked them if this was a known problem they said no.
Is there anybody else out there with the same problem. Thanks. Read more
I have just discovered this morning that i have a puddle of water under my spare wheel as well. Where was in coming in on your car?
I just went to pick up my new (2007) Kia Magentis (2.7 V6 Auto) having had a good test drive a few days ago. But as I went to drive it out of the showroom it squealed like a little pig, well actually it was more like a great big huge pig! Really loud and sustained. It certainly didn't do this when we went for a test drive.
I'm not going to go into the garage's reaction too much but it would appear they were aware of this and tried to deceive me, but they've said they will try to fix it and didn't know why it was doing that now. They did try to spray some lube on the pulleys and belts but that did nothing. One of the pulleys didn't seem to be running true and was little wobbly, which made the belt move left/right.
I'm not a mechanic so I don't know what it is but I did have a similar occurrence on an Alfa, which was possibly a bent crankshaft???
I have already got all of my money back after having to fight for a refund.
Question is do I still buy it once 'fixed' or do I leave it well alone? Read more
The belt change on both the 2.0 and the 2.7 is essential, change all the pulleys and water pump at the same time.
There are many reports of both the 2.0 and the 2.7 hitting over 250,000km in the USA and still going strong....
I did indeed. Big John's sanity lives to fight another day.
