I was appalled to read this report on the BBC News website. It seems like a sure way to kill off a good idea.

common sense has gone, thats my gripe. If the police had given me a telling off and be more careful sort of approach it would have been more effective than an SAC

Problem with that is the 21 year old next door to you who's paying £4million a year for insurance will know full well that if he was caught making a 'misjudgement' then the proverbial ton of bricks would rain down with blood soaked vengeance. So why shouldn't it be the case with you?

my sister has had her claim rejected because she was not wearing her glasses when driving, even though her sight is good and she can read the numberplate at the correct distance because she had not noticed the caveat on her driving licence that says she must wear glasses when driving. Read more

The Skoda is off to car heaven this week. I'll post a long term report in due course and report what I think of the replacement. I had expected to buy a VAG car but that has not come to fruition.

My head's a shed at the moment so ANY help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

In September,my son (motor biker) was involved in an altercation with a female car driver. There was an argument but no collision or accident so he drove off. He received a call about 2 weeks later asking him to give a witness statement at the police station, which he did.The driver had reported him, claiming he had damaged her car and assaulted her, which is not true. He received a letter about two weeks from his solicitor informing him that the police were to take no further action and the matter was concluded. He was not arrested, charged or bailed. Also, he has not received a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP). He thought the matter was finished with but now received a summons to go to the Magistrates Court on three offenses, failing to stop, failing to give name and address and a section 39 assault.
I have found case law that for a prosecution to succeed a NIP is required if the driver is unaware of an accident taking place (Metropolitan Police v Scarlett [1978] Crim LR 234 and Bentley v Dickinson [1983] RTR 356.

Does anyone know the procedure, i.e.if a driver was unaware of an accident they should receive an NIP before going to court? Read more

The beginning of the end for another car producer in GB. Once TATA can ensure that the Chinese can build at the price/quality/quantity required then additional factories will come on stream - India being a possibility - and British factories run down. We live in a global economy as Mr Cameron keeps telling us along with "We're all in this together" - tell that to the ex-Ford Transit employees. Read more

So far the dealer and Citroen have honoured the warranty, so you should take it back again and get it repaired. Then, if you've lost faith in it, flog it with a clear conscience: after all, some parts have been replaced which won't have been on other 2010 cars, so don't worry about a subsequent buyer who will anyway get the rest of the warranty.

Hi, I wondered if anyone knows if the public can still have access to the Ford TSB's. My ar was in last week for a clunking in the steering column. the girl said there was a "loose bolt" but that was all she could tell me.

If the buzz behind the dash is just an anoying buzz when you pull away or creeping in traffic it may be the clucth hydraulic pipe buzzing against the bulkhead. Needs a bit of foam wedged in it
