Hi,
I have recently been told by the garage that the turbocharger in my C-Max 1.6 TDCi needs to be replaced (at a cost of € 2,400) and I then went on to read some of the woeful expriences of people in a similar situation here:... Read more
The Focus is the best selling car in the UK and the 1.6 TDCi is the most popular version. Considering how many have been sold you would expect to see some problems, its a simple fact. Most owners never have any issues but those that do get on forums and make the fact well know. We had one for 5 years and never had any issues with the turbo, infact the only part replaced was a cracking alternator belt.
You have just been unlucky, once repaired it will be fine again.
I am looking to put some winter tyres on my 2004 Galaxy in readiness for a trip to the Alps in December.
As I am hopefully going to sell this sometime early next year, I am loathe to invest £400 - £500 on decent new tyres - so I have been looking around at part-worn ones.... Read more
Thank you RT, I stand to be corrected.
My daughter was lent a car by Drive Assist whilst her car was being repaired after her car was hit behind at a junction.
It's just been picked up by Drive Assist as her car has now been repaired and, after an inch by inch inspection the guy collecting the car claimed there was damage to an alloy and the cost would be £75. It didn't look like a new scratch to me and I took a clear close up photo, and wrote on his PDA that we disputed the damage ( my daughter was at uni and thus not present). Somehow I wasn't in the least surprised, I suspect this is a nice little scam charging for old damge, but wondered if anyone else has successfully fought such a charge. Read more
Couple of years ago we hired a car from Cork airport. Very carefully checked before driving off - couple of dents not recorded on the manifest. Went back to desk to report it - they were rather off-hand. They'd overlooked the very Irish surname and possibly thought they could pull one over. Irish blarney has no effect on those innured to it:) Photographed every panel on return. No bonus there chaps! Good luck by the way OP.
The MG6 diesel is here at last.

Definitely not a British diesel engine - and it's interesting to see that (as far as I know), none of the other press reports have actually picked up on the fact that it's a Chinese Joint Venture engine with SAIC (MG's parent company).
Interesting point at the start of this thread about Perkins engines. As most of us know, that was developed into the Rover L-Series, which powered the last MG Zed cars... well, a commonrail version was developed, codenamed G-Series or Gallileo, and that was tested before the company went pop. And according to the engineers, it was better than the BMW unit they used in the 75 and Freelander....
Hi,
I was wondering if I could get some advice on how to go about getting a refund for repairs to a car that I bought 8 weeks ago. From the day I bought the car I have had issues with the car having no heating and losing coolant.... Read more
If its a 2012 Astra its still under the Vauxhall warranty. Just get them to sort it.
I took him to mean it was a second-hand Astra (2004 - 2010) and Astra 2012 was just his screen name?!
I've been reading about Audi's winter tyre package, where they store your summer set to re use........but I'm b*****ed if I can find any useful information and price.......plenty of details on how to buy a car but I already have a one year old A5 quattro convertible..

I have a 307 2.0L HDI (90hp) 51 plate. I have just replaced the clutch and thankfully it didn't have a dual mass flywheel fitted<*** class="inlineimg" title="Smile" src="http://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" /> and now I want to do the cam belt. It was supposedly replaced 5 years go on 101,000 and now the mileage is 133,000. How difficult is it to do? I have replaced cambelts on 106's and on saxo's and they are relatively straight forward. I have been quoted in the region of £370 by the garages around here and due to the cars age it isn't worth forking out that kind of money when if I do it it will cost around £80 -£100 inc the water pump. I don't have a belt tension tester and so it would be the old 90 degree twist method. Read more
If you have only done 31,000 miles since it was changed I wouldn't worry about it, the recommended interval is I believe 100,000 miles.
I have owned from new and it is in very good condition with only 70,000 miles.
I recently bought a new car and decided to garage the peugeot (which has been working fine) everything excellent never any problems.... Read more
Correction engine turns over well but doesnt fire

Write personally to Sir Richard Branson. He might at least pass the letter to someone who will sort it out without the sort of publicity they could possibty get if you went to the papers.
