NEloon

Great car and built really well - great carrying capacity + all weather grip - esp up here in NE Scotland - we've just had 2 of worst winters in last 20 yrs - lots of snow + ice - car came into it's own.

However this am - I experienced longstanding injector issue - dashboard warning msg "Engine Fault - Garage!" + total system shut down - my car has full VWSH - 79600mls from new; car recovered by AA to local VW agent (who's looked after my car from when I purchased it) - Service Mgr said VW know of fault and are replacing injectors + wiring loom FOC. Due to parts availability/del'y issues car will be with dealer for 2 add'l days.... Read more

Hi,

Over the weekend I tried to change the rear brake pads on my wife's 1007. On the right side the piston just would not go back in. It turns clockwise but does not retract (it will not turn anticlock)... Read more

Rather than an MGB, I'd suggest going for a car on the cusp of classic status. So go for one, which those in the know realise is a classic, but alot of the general public don't know is a sought after car. Shame I can't PM you. I paid 'x' for my Merc, spent '2 times x' on it and have had a couple specialists reckon it's worth four times 'x'.

Unless you can buy something like an Aston Martin etc, IMO I think you're unlikely to make any significant money. In 1986 my Frogeye Sprite was worth about £2,000. When you take into account running costs over 25 years, it would really need to be worth a minimum of £15,000 now to have covered basic outgoings of servicing, repairs, MOT and insurance costs. Still, it would have been fun!

Hi

The charity I work for bought a 2 nd hand 08 plate Focus from a Ford dealership (Hazle Grove) in March 2009. We had it serviced at a Ford Service Centre (St Helens) in 2010. We haven’t yet had it serviced in 2011 - to be honest, the reason was that we’d not received a reminder (I know, not an excuse but we just assumed we’d get a reminder like we did last year).... If the EML light is on, get the codes read. They will tell where the fault is.

I think the problem with the chav chariots is they've become annonymous, nobody laughs at them anymore or even notices them but the Evoque is....striking. Its bought by people who want the world to look at them, i'd rather toodle around invisibly with nobody having an opinion on me. But Land Rover will be happy with the amount of times their car ends up in Heat and OK magazine.

But theres still people who think a modded up 1.2 Corsa with a spoiler (why?) and a 4 million watt stereo makes them look good. Im sorry but if they lift their baseball cap up and look beyond the bonnet they surely must see everyone on the pavement is mouthing the same thing...

Hi

Be grateful of any advice....

I am having difficulty changing gear. The gear changing seems to be okay at the start but after a while of driving I start having problems. The gear stick just wont go into the gear. It can take several attempts before I can get it to go in yet the next time I try to change gear it may be okay. It seems to have happened after I changed the clutch cable, I did it myself. There can also be a grinding/rumbling noise when I press down on the clutch pedal. Also last yeah oil came out of the transmission box when the drive shaft was being replaced. As far as im aware that wasnt replaced. Also should I have lubricated the clutch cable

I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks

A friends car has suddenly decided not start. The error light comes on. I'll read the codes later. Also, the lights flash (sounds like alarm activated?), the doors lock and unlock, trip distance re-sets itself.

Any ideas where I should start looking?... Read more

The question was asked before I had seen the car. When I got to it, it was clearly a dead battery.
