My infiniti suv jacks anytime I want to accelerate, have checked plugs and the air flow meter and also the ignition all works well but when it was scanned I notice it display knock sensor. Could this be the problem. Because the injector works well. Read more
Hi guys. A pal has a diesel landcruiser, which overheated whilst towing a caravan. He has had a new water pump, radiator, hoses and replacement cylinder head. It will now pull a large caravan up hills without overheating, but when the speed on the motorway exceeds 60mph it overheats quickly, even with the thermostat removed.
Yes, I told him to tow below 60, and comply with UK law, but am curious as to why this overheating still occurs. I can see how the initial problem occurred, but not why it now recurs.

Hi all, i have a number of problems with my car, and i think they may be related. I was wondering if anyone could help..... (apologies for the essay!)
On cold wet mornings my car (X reg Honda Accord, 1.8 Vtech 130k miles) struggles to start. turns over fine, fuel pump kicks in, just doesnt catch. Now i think this is related to the HT leads or distribution cap as i can see some of the insulation coming away on the HT lead near where it connects to the spark plug. If i spray the area with WD-40 and leave for 5 mins the engine reluctantly starts withthe accelerator pedal pressed fully. I expect that this can be solved my replaceing the HT leads. Pretty simple. However while going round a sharp RHT the engine died, no error lights, and started up easily straight away. It has since done this 2 more times. Could these be related (havent changed HT leads yet) or am i looking at something like fuel pump/filter or a loose connection? Any advice greatly appriciated.... Read more
Yes, quite easy to diagnose. Have it done sooner than later though, because it rapidly gets worse. Any independant could do this job. You will probably be luckier than me on the parts availability because it's a more common vehicle (the Shuttle and Accord switches are slightly different). Honda wanted around £125 to do it. Good luck
hi i bought this motor for my mrs, was in bits as mazda couldnt solve problem whatever it had before, they but new turbo on,and didnt cure it wotever it was so car got stored up. when i bought it, it didnt run, eventually we got it running and it filled garage with smoke etc. took injectors and they were all knackered badly. so put new ones in, starts okish, but sounds like low on compression, but when take for drive goes really well, but on info dash about economy when you thrash it, it goes up to 50ish to gallon, but when ya cruise it goes down to 3 if lucky, is it vacum controlled etc,and only pulls from 2000 rpm. any help be great. thanks

You're not alone: if you do a forum search you'll find other threads about problems with Mazda diesels.
Daughter had to take extreme avoiding action on the A1 this week, and her little green Suzuki fell over on its side. Is there a known stability problem with these cars (and by extrapolation the old shape Vauxhall Agila)? Read more
The Which? stability tests that were carried out earlier this year on the Fiat Qubo and Citroen Nemo (basically the same vehicle - as is the Peugeot Bipper Teepee), showed that high sided cars with short wheelbases without ESP could turn over during extreme manouvers. The Wagon R/Agula also has a short wheelbase and high sides. However, if your daughter's car clipped a kerb during her avoiding action, that would have been enough to tip the car.
Hi - Reversed into another vehicle, my fault. From what I can see I wlll need a new rear bumper maybe sensor and fog light. The question is I am insured with Admiral and I am sure they will wish to steer me to their contracted repaired (I realise I can witin reason choose my own).
I live in Bognor Regis, does any body know who theie repairer might be for this area??... Read more
Here goes again
Bought this 06 plate 1.6 tdci focus from the auctions
Unknown when I bought it the turbo was blown
Bought a refurbished turbo from ebay
Had the turbo fitted and engine flushed etc
Driving home from the garage (friend) first test after changing the turbo some sort of pipe blew off from either underneath the turbo or behind it sorry I'm not mechanily minded.
So I took it back to my mate who then refitted the pipe all was sounding good again
He then said the casing of the turbo was hot which he the put a computer thing on it (sorry)
Which came back with a dpf fault
He tried to clear it but he says It won't go
No management light on before or after diagnostic
After reading all these forums I'm a bit paranoid to drive it as it might blow the turbo again he said to me but took it for a mot today passed emissions
No problem
Can anybody help me I really want to keep this car but not if it's eating turbos
Thanks in advance Read more

Moved to Technical, where you should get some help if anyone can make head or tail of this.
No need to apologise for spelling: it's the complete lack of punctuation and paragraphs which make it almost impossible to follow. If you want help, do try and make life easier for people reading this....
I'm told by a CR-V owning friend that at 7 years old the clutch master cylinder on my CR-V is likely to fail. Its due for its annual service shortly - should I ask my Honda garage to replace it? And is there anything else I should ask them to check/replace in particular? Read more
If it ain't broke don't...........................

Electric cooling fan wired backwards so it blows rather than sucks?
Seen that one and it does exactly what you say. Works fine, until you hit the speed where the incoming air cancels out the fan action. That creates a "dead zone" with no airflow through the rad and the thing will boil very quickly....
