please watch the video called cambridge uk thief here http://www.youtube.com/user/chainsore#p/u/3/bIgWtbunTRg then tell me what make and model of car the thief drives, my best guess is its a peagot 206 or 207 due to the headlight shape as seen from the side, when he unlocks his car the lights flash and that helps put a bit of light on his car ( pause video at right moment ) or as he drives up the road just as he turns right ouy of the road again pause video to see colour of his car im guessing its dark green what do you think ?, also when he gets in the car you can see lights on his dashboard do they look right for the type of car you think it is ? also the new mcdonalds 1955 burger tv ad has a blue car in it thats quite similar to the thiefs..what car type is that ? theyve removed the car badge so its harder to tell, ps could the cambridge thief/suspected burglars car be a kia picanto ? Anyone know how to get at the tail light assembly to change the lens cluster? I can remove the panel on the boot, but still cannot remove the cluster- seems to be connected to the body, but cannot find a way to get at it from inside. All the interior panel pins are hidden... What is the best way to get at them? TIA Read more

Remove the nut behind the cover in the boot, Carefully release the cover side from the rear light using the removal wedge ( plastic or wood ), Pry rear light at side out of clip nuts using removal lever, Remove rear light from body opening, Unplug electrical connector at bulb carrier. Much easier if you have the drawing. Post up your email address leaving a couple of spacers in it to avoid phishing and I'll send you the drawing. Regards Peter

My 2002/ 51 plate Focus 1.6 Zetec has covered 135000. It has acquired an occasional misfire which occurs when you are cruising at speed with the throttle slightly open. It does not happen under hard acceleration. My local independant says it is moisture causing tracking on the spark plug leads where they enter the engine and Ford recommend a dose of their silicon spray. Has anyone heard about this? It is not a great problem because it does not happen too much. They are the original plug leads so maybe it is to be expected?

I would appreciate some advice on a problem I've had with my Rover 75 Connoisseur CDTi. At the end of June I had a full service done at my local garage in the UK at 94000miles. 1500 miles later, when in the south of France, the low oil pressure warning light came on and it took 4litres to restore the level. On re-starting I noticed some blue smoke and when this increased I shut down and called Green Flag. The French garage diagnosed turbo failure and stated this was caused by a blocked PCV filter unit. Green Flag shipped out a new turbo that I found on Ebay and the garage fitted this together with a replacement filter unit.

On returning home I contacted my local garage who said (1) they had never heard of the PCV filter (2) they could not see how its blockage could have caused the turbo failure and (3) the turbo failure was “just one of those things”.... Read more

A blocked PCV filter stopped the scavenge effect of the return oil feed form the turbo and thus the turbo seeps oil via it's bearing and burns it off in the engine. The damage to the turrbo was running very low on oil and the lack of pressure. Regards Peter

Hi All,

I'm having a problem with my van Nissan Primstar 06'. When i am driving at speeds of between 80 - 100 kph the temperture gauge shoots up to the max. The red warning light comes on, and the altenator/engine sign. Do you think this will be expensive to fix? Should i get ready for a large bill?... Read more

Hi

Could anyone advise how to lubricate a clutch cable ?

Thanks

Believe it's a hydraulic clutch on these - you will need to check the clutch fluid level periodically. If the level drops you've got a leak somewhere which will need to be checked.
