We live quite near the factory so I saw on emonths ago, only now can I bring myself to talk about it. I thought it was a Freelander that had been squashed!

I saw four of them on a transporter last week. Chav-tatstic!

How fitting that the Uber Chav-vete 'Posh' - (named for Irony) was involved albeit in a small way.

It may have actually been more tasteful to let Jordan specifiy the colour range... Any colour you like as long as it's shocking pink.

Needless to say even if it was the finest car in the world I couldn't live with those looks.

Sums up my opinion of the new Rolls Royce cars. There is no way anyone will convince me if that fugly slab-fronted P.O.S. had a Nissan or Kia badge the motoring press would rave about it.

Pathetic.

They do look squashed don't they? Sort of melted. Salvador Dali is turning in his grave...

I've seen my first one ..... AAAAARGH !

We saw one of the prototypes in about March of this year - by the Villa ground. The black and white patterned paint job did a very good job of disguising the shut lines of the doors.

I saw three on saturday morning. Black, white, then grey. Obviously Land Rover are happy!

Saw my first one Friday night. I don't normally like Range Rovers but this one hit the spot. Beautiful.

I think I've said this before but I still can't see what it is that the Evoque is supposed to be - well, evoking. I'd have thought that either you want a 4 x 4 or a sporty coupe, but not both at once.

But all the interest and (apparently) advance orders show that it must be hitting the spot with lots of people. Maybe for the kamikaze mums (and sometimes dads) whose off-roading consists of mounting the kerb outside the school where they drop off one child, it's just right. There should be just about enough headroom in the back for a primary-school-age child.

I'm not knocking it over much, I hope it's a huge success and more income to the UK workers etc. Just not for me thanks.

Fantastic income to the Indian company with assets totalling over 20billion USD as well.

I said before with RR's biggest customers being the Katie Price, Alex Curran, footballers wives of Cheshire mob etc they'd be stupid to not make cars to cater to it, after all RR want to sell cars but it doesnt prevent it being rather vile. Ive been told its looks will grow on me though.

*looks at watch* Iiiiiimm waiting!

Just seen a semi-covered train full of these heading away from Waterloo towards Weybridge

I too saw a transporter full of them. What a joke of a car. And yes they might create jobs, but smashing loads of windows would create jobs too - for glaziers.

Still, if someone wants to make em and someone else wants to buy em, great. The worst of all possible worlds is when the g*v*rnm*nt tries to make them. I can't even type the whole word, it's too horrible.

Thanking you

I saw a transporter full of them too. I thought it was the dog's conkers to be honest so it proves it polarises opinion with everyone else saying how much they loathe it. .

If it were German, people would be going ballistic about it saying how ace it was. Cos it's British, people just criticise.

Why don't people for a change just celebrate the fact that this is a British product that's ultra desirable rather than slagging it off? And before you ask, yes I drive a German car so I know how much they can disappoint you when they are so far less good than they seem in the showroom!!!!!!

If I could afford a new car this minute I'd happily snap up an Evoque.

Absolute babble, theres plenty of German cars people here dont like. I own a Jaguar and i dislike the Evoque and would never buy anything German if you paid me.

The fact its ultra desirable is representative of everything thats wrong with Britain, thats the point.

And can we just go back to this 'Its British' point. Land Rover are owned by an Indian Company. Both of the Evoque's engines are from Ford and it would appear to share some other bits with the new Jaguar XJ. It may be put together in the Halewood plant but thats not much to shout about as 300 people lost their jobs there just two years ago. £27million grant later and the net result = back to square one.

Right on, Jamie.

It's a deeply impractical triumph of celebrity chav styling. People who buy one should be subject to a severe laughing at.

Land Rover Evoque - First Sighting - PatrickO

It's a bit like Marmite. I think they look ok in white and probably most other single colours bit I saw a maroon one on Friday with a silver roof and silver bumper which looked revolting.

Land Rover Evoque - First Sighting - jamie745

I think the problem with the chav chariots is they've become annonymous, nobody laughs at them anymore or even notices them but the Evoque is....striking. Its bought by people who want the world to look at them, i'd rather toodle around invisibly with nobody having an opinion on me. But Land Rover will be happy with the amount of times their car ends up in Heat and OK magazine.

But theres still people who think a modded up 1.2 Corsa with a spoiler (why?) and a 4 million watt stereo makes them look good. Im sorry but if they lift their baseball cap up and look beyond the bonnet they surely must see everyone on the pavement is mouthing the same thing...
