Hi, I have just purchased a new roof box complete with rails and all fixings to fit this specific vehicle. On removing the 4 thin plastic strips covering the fixing points on the car it appears there are no tapped holes (as should be the case according to the roof rail manufacturer?) I have just asked a friend who has the same car in case Ford had missed drilling mine but he says his is the same? Surely you don't have to drill these yourself? If so will the car then leak water in? Any help would be greatly appreciated as going on hol in a few days! Read more
Original fit Toyo A20 Open Country M/S215/55 R18 95H are due for imminent replacement. The only available option seems to be a Continental summer tyre. Nissan Customer Service seemingly unable to help. How can a mainstream manufacturer leave customers stuffed like this? Nice car but off-road capability about to be lost. Thanks Nissan. Read more
I think 55 is about average for a medium car, as in 205/16/55. Why the tyre industry mixes up the measurements between Imperial and metric defies logic.
It doesn't defy logic - although you may not agree with the logic....
I AM THINKING OF BUYING A 08 REG LOW MILEAGE CMAX 2.0 LTR PETROL AUTOMATIC AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY FEED BACK OR COMMENTS. REGARDING RELIABILITY / FUEL CONSUMPTION ETC. THANKS. Read more
Had a 1.6TDCi manual for 5 years before selling it a while ago, one of the best cars we have ever had. In the 5 years other than fuel, tyres and servicing we only had an alternator belt replaced, it had started to crack. The bodywork was still A1 and the interior had held up brilliantly.
runboy is correct, the rubiish auto box was the CVT fitted to 1.6 diesels, 2.0's had a propper auto box....
Having just given my car a full service on saturday, I had the MAF off just to check if it was grubby inside as the filter looked slightly dirtier than usual, I noticed that one of the three wires inside was actually missing. Ordered a new one on saturday night. Between saturday and wednesday, I'd driven about 300 miles, and it was fine.
Put the new MAF in last night and took it out for a spin - I was shocked at actually how much power I'd lost without noticing. It ran fine, even though only a small journey.... Read more

Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked before but (suprisingly) I can't find any mention of it in a forum search.... Read more
Many thanks for that - I'll try taking my foot of the clutch next time I'm in a big queue.
Cheers.
Car won't start when the weather is hot or after a journey or two. I've changed three different sensors; 02 sensor, Cam sensor and lambert sensor. Changed the ignition coil pack which was corroded and the fuel pressure gauge. The VW dealer can't find anything wrong and nothing is coming up on the diagnostics. whatever the problem is, is killing the sensors in the car. I've spent so much but I am ready to admit defeat. Could it be anything to do with the ECU sensor or wiring (?), read something on the internet. Please can someone help! Thank you Read more
Poor starting relating to engine temp is conducive with a faulty engine coolant temp sensor.probably the #1 sensor failure on any vag engine.Often does not show faulty as it is still working within the engine control unit parameters but does not produce the correct temp sensor reading related to engine temp.A typical example of a computor being very clever but got no brain.hth
Hi,
I have recently had problems with my digital fuel gauge its not reading the level in the fuel tank correctly its reading full when I know its not and then it may show half full or empty the next time i'd start it. I thought it might be something that would need recalibrating or possibly changing the fuel sender. Now I've started having problems filling the car with fuel (the petrol fuel pump clicks off, at alot of different petrol stations), now I know that it sounds like its a full tank and problems with the fuel gauge, I may have lost count of how much fuel I have put in, but I can assure you that this is not the case I believe there is about 1/4 of a tank in there. Also when I'm driving along the car losses power at around 50 mph and is slow to accelerate around this speed.... Read more
I would check first to make sure your tank hasnt buckled or collapsed. If the tank has a breather fault they can collapse, causing the gauge to read full and very little tank capacity when you fill it and loss of power due to fuel starvation
Could Panda owners please comment on the following list of drawbacks and add any from their experience? Some are from a while back and derived friom this site and may no longer apply but I want to check them out when I take a test drive (probably opting for the 1.2 Dynamic):

I've just added something but to respnd to you - the air intake system is a disaster. It allows rain and road spray to enter and wet the air filter. WORSE - if the car is aprked looking uphill, rain water runs down the bonnet and drips into the air intake. If snow or hail collects on the bar that runs across the rad grill, when the accumulation melts - water goes stright into air intake ! Terrible design feature.
The guide on a Sicilian tour described the local attitude to driving. If there is some one you want a word with you simply stop regardless of holding up everyone behind and have your conversation, nobody objects as they all do it.Traffic light are obeyed at most times but if the road is clear then you just go....apparently the police don't bother about it at all. in the event of a minor bump in 80% of cases you simply swop addresses and the guilty party arranges the repair somewhere of his choosing.....insurance firms are seldom contacted. The worst driving I saw around Europe was in England.................................................. Read more
Accident rates do not support this assertion. That said, we Brits do like to make a meal out of an accident.
My family have always tried to settle privately-and the cost of the repairs were of the order of a few hundred pounds....
Hi, I'm looking for a bit of advice. My car has had a rattle/buzzing noise, worst at 30mph in 4th gear. Goes away when you take your foot off the accelerator generally. The garage has decided they think it's the timing belt cover, but are "investigating it further". If this is the problem does anyone know if this is covered by Ford warranty. It's also a Ford direct - the car is 13 months old. thanks very much Read more
Agree with you TeeCee - in my opinion it's a cheap nasty way of holding roof bars on. The best system I had was that on the Vectra B - over centre catches that located in holes behind the door rubbers. No locks required either as the doors had to be open to operate the catches. Simple, but effective.
