Hi
There is something going on with my air con fans that I don't if its normal or not. As I understand, when you switch the air con on, the condensor (low speed) fan is suppose to stay on all the time to cool the condensor. My car does this, except it seems on warm days. When I get into the car and start the AC on those days, within a few seconds both radiator (high speed) and condensor (low speed) fans start to cycle on and off instead and continue to do so until I turn the car off.... One thing I have noticed about the bloke who fitted the condenser and the accumulator, was when he finished both jobs and refilled the system, the refill seemed to take all of 10 minutes. As I understand, the system should be deep vacuumed for leaks and taking out moisture and air and that should take at least an hour.
Could my problems stem from this? (An airlock maybe)
I have a 2005 RX-8 which I purchased last year from a private seller. The car has had 3 previous owners. 2 weeks ago I discovered an oil leak and my engine flooded. My mechanic used to work for Mazda and told me that I needed a new oil cooling pipe because that is where the leak is coming from and it should of been recalled just as my starter should of been recalled too.
When I contacted Mazda and asked them if my car had any recalls they told me that they were not aware of any recalls for the RX-8 and I told them I read many statements on the internet about recalls and they just told me not to believe everything I read...........they keep on denying all knowledge......so I handed the phone to my mechanic who they told was a recall but if the car is not under warranty I would have to pay..................... The whole car is a design problem I would not hold any hope of getting anything from Mazda, they are normally scrapped at this age due to so many expensive problems you are experiencing the start of many breakdowns to come.
A few weeks ago when leaving a car park i heard a very loud bang from underneath the car. I got out to have a look and found a piece of metal on the ground, it was a kind of arc shape and one end looked like it had been sheared off something. However as i couldn't see any obvious signs of damage underneath the car and it seemed to drive normally i had forgotten about it and decided maybe i just drove over the part and it skitted up and hit the chassis to make the bang i heard. Just yesterday going round a mini roundabout i heard a similar bang. i pulled in again couldn't see any signs of obvious damage under the car. However i found another similar piece of metal caught in under the wheel arch. Since this most recent event i have noticed an occasional knocking noise coming from the rear of the car, although this may just be my paranoia now that i am listening out for something.
So i thought id throw this out to some of the experts on here and see if anyone has any suggestions as to what may have gone wrong and whether im in for a whole heap of pain or not.... Read more
hi. I'm in the same boat as you with springs....my volvo has 101k on the clock and didn't get any loud bangs, just noticed that high speed left turns involved a saggy feeling...
its only when the car was on a ramp that the spring showed any damage the car still had a level ride height when sat in a car park......
I have a V reg 306 diesel. Which runs really well.
However the car has developed a knock which appears to come from the front drivers side in the area near to the front wheel.... Read more

Hi, my mums mx5 has recently developed a problem. First the car cut out on her way home from work, my dad noticed the connect was loose on the item beside the coil pack on the end of the cam against the bulkhead. (grey connector 4 wires).

Today we have had been all over the engine bay looking for problems but can't find any.... Read more
car is now running very well, thanks for all who replied to this thread.
Ive just bought a car for next to nothing that has some faults.
1, Car pulls to the right when accelerating and going through gears but doesnt when cruising at a constant speed. It doesnt even drift when I go over rough terrain.
2, There is a knocking noise coming from the front when the car is moving and is more noticeble when going over bumps. Im assuming suspension. The shocks seem fine to me. Im wondering if this is associated with the car pulling?
3, Whilst driving there is a noticeable noise coming from the engine. Like a du du du du spinning noise. I havent noticed any problems with the actual drive itself. The noise does not occur when the car is idle or when its stationary and in gear.
4, Heater constantly blowing hot air even when dial has been set to cold. Ive read that I may need a new heater valve?
Has anyone got any ideas? The car does seem to drive nicely, Ive noticed no uneven tread on the tyres. Brakes are nice and not spongey. Car pulls off nicely and there doesnt seem to be any gearbox problems. Read more
Very common problem. I had it on my Focus. Got all the links done for £76 in early 2010. Sorry, I meant to come back and post a bit more!

The steering lock on my wifes Fiat Punto is difficult to unlock. She has to struggle with the steering lock and eventually it works. She is worried that she may break the key in the barrel. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing the problem. Is it a known or common issue. Would it be a simple case of replaceing the barrel with a new one? Read more
Just to add - did this to sort my wife's 04 Punto last year. Makes a big difference.
IT COULD BE A BAD CONNECTION BUT JUST TO BE SURE, ASK YOUR LOCAL GARAGE TO DO A SPILL OFF TEST. IF POSSIBLE SPRAY SOME RELEASING OIL OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE INJECTORS THE NIGHT BEFORE YOU TAKE IT TO THE GARAGE AS IF THE INJECTOR IS FAULTY IT WILL NEED TO COME OUT AND FROM BITTER EXPERIENCE I CAN TELL YOU THEY DONT LIKE TOO. A RECON INJECTOR SHOULD COST NO MORE THAN £90
