Can any one suggest what I should have to pay to have the Air con regassed? I assume that this is the issue as even when air con is on and at its lowest we still get warm air! The car is a 2008 diesel.

We also have an XC90 and the AC seems fine but wonder if i am having one done should I have both! Has anyone any experience of having it done and any suggestions?... Read more

HI. you said the cars a 2008 model,

can't you take the car back to the volvo dealer, 3 year warrenty, or if its only slightly out of warrenty period you might be able to get a %age of the costs paid as a good will......

Hi all

The mother's 2001 KA sounds terrible. Just had new lower wishbones both side. Now when you get up to about 30-40 mps there is a very loud whirring noise coming from somewhere, plus the power steering has gone. Only thing I can think is the steering rack? Power steering fluid isn;t leaking from anywhere but its gargling. I've tried bleeding the power steering but to no avail so I'm guessing its the power steering pump thats gone. Since there is no power steering, it isn't being pumped around and the pump runs off the belt so this could be making the noise??

I am after some advice and what my chances are with getting a favorable outcome.

In a nutshell, I took my car to a well known car servicing centre last week for an MOT and when I went to pick it up I discovered that the whole of the near side had been damaged including wing mirror. The damage looks like it had been done with either another vehicle or heavy object scrapping the length of the car from the near side passenger door to the near side rear bumper. Resulting in heavy dents thay have pierced the door skin and rear wing.... Read more

Thanks for the comments. This forum is usually full of good comment and from people who have been in similar situations. Also when we do get another legal beagle the comments can be verified. I and many others would not post unless offering something constructive, even if it is just sympathy. However, it sounds like you are building some good evidence for your case, hopefully enough for the other side to show the white flag. Let us know of any developments. I have a 6 year old Golf GTI. One of the engine mounting bolts has just sheared off at great expense to me. It has a full dealer service history. The only way I can think of this happening is that when I had the timing belt changed a few months ago. Is the engine removed from the car when the timing belt is changed? If this is the case I think there is a strong possibility they have over tightened the bolt which has lead to it shearing off. Your help please. Read more

Well done - it's a rare event when a dealer will admit to a problem of his own making and put it right. I give all credit to him.

It's also satisfying to see that Forums such as this excellent one can be used to achieve worthwhile results for agrieved consumers. As a generality, vehicle makers and dealers seem to be oblivious to the Internet - ignoring the fact that we can all now compare experiences, faults and their resolution. This will cost them dear in the long run and I suspect the Japanese makers are more aware of this than many others and are thus more open with their problems....

My Citroen Xsara had been running fine even up until last night. Today it just won't start, brand new battery 3 weeks ago. Turns over but just won't fire, getting diesel upto the injectors. Even with easystart it tries to fire but won't run. AA been out and left scratching their head. Maybe imobiliser problem although light not on on dash and keyfob works fine. Also mentioned it could be the cam sensor. Computer records 300 bar at fuel rail and rpm ok. Could this be heater plugs or would it have started with easystart if this was the case? I myself would be checking the 15 pin double relay. Disconnect relay plug plug terminals are all numbered a permanent 12'v's should be obtained at terminals 3-8-11-15 at ignition off, With plug re-connected and ignition on this relay feeds fuel pressure regulator from terminal 9 on relay. Terminal 7 on relay feeds inerta fuel cut off switch and then goes to ecu pin no 87. Hth Regards Mickeybo

the power steering has gone very heavy on me in the van the resivour with the power steering fluid in it is still full so has the pump gone and is this classed as an mot failure, if the pump has gone how much am i expecting to pay for a new one and getting it fitted Read more

Is there any fluid pumping round the system? Usually you can tell by looking in the reservoir cap with the system running - you should be able to discern the fluid flowing.

Is there any assistance in either direction?...

Hi there,

I see there have been many posts on this issue but can't quite match up the symptoms to my problem.

I bought my 1.6 petrol focus in Jan and realised that the air con wasn't working. The light on the button was on but the compressor just didn't engage. The relay and fuse seem fine. I got advised to re-gas it as low pressure will mean the compressor won't kick in anyway. It was re-gassed last sat and low and behold the compressor was working again. Two days later and it was back to square one and no compressor but the light was still on. I assumed there must have been a leak somewhere to cause the pressure to drop again.

I took it to my local garage on friday and explained the problem. They said they would check the electrics, the pressure and for any leaks in the system. I got the car back and they said the system seemed fine and they simply gassed it up and away I went with cool air and a working compressor! However, a day later, the compressor has stopped kicking in and so i'm once again without air con - which is starting to be quite depressing given the journey I have to make soon to northern Italy.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem may be and possible solutions? It seems I have had the system working twice but can't seem to keep it going. Possibly a pressure switch? faulty compressor? When it was working, it was fine and wasn't intermittent at all.

Ask for your money back: they are incompetent. and have taken money twice and not fixed teh pronblem. If they refuse, tell them you will complain to Trading Standards. And do so,

The position of the wing mirrors in my Polo are controlled by an electronic switch on the driver's side. The other day the switch just stopped working completely when I was trying to move the position of the left mirror the electronic switch stopped working. I tried to move the right mirror and that had stopped working too. So now I can't change the position of either mirror. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can give me suggestions as to what this fault is, how to fix it or how much it should cost to get it fixed at a garage. Many thanks. SCJ. Read more

EMMISIONS WORKSHOP !LUCKLY BIG BRO WORKS AT A VW GARAGE , TURBO CLOGGED, REPLACED WITH A REFURBED ONE . 3 WEEKS LATER NEW PROBLEM ........WITHIN HALF A MILE FROM START UP THE CAR MISSFIRES , BLACK SMOKE OUT THE BACK UNTIL YOU CHANGE UP THEN IT GOES AND WILL ONLY DO IT ONCE PER TRIP ?? Hi,
I have a 2004 micra (petrol) I just bought and I have noticed that when I start it from cold it idles erratic but is fine once it warms up, and also I noticed engine light in the dash which had the error code: P0340.
If I delete the error code once the car is warm it does not seem to come back on

I looked through the service history and in 2009 it was recommended to change the throttle body and boost sensor for the problem of "erratic idle from cold"... Read more

The reason for thinking the thottle body was when looking through the service the nissan dealer recommended changing the thottle body back in 2009 for a similar if not the same problem.

What should I do?
