Hi all, i have had a problem with this car for 6 months now. The engine management light sometimes comes on when i would put my foot down in 4th and 5th gear which would force it into limp mode.
I have had the FAP fluid topped up and also has been on a diagnosis and they said boost pressure sensor was the problem. I never let the garage do any of the work as i just wanted the diagnosis from them, as i can do the work myself. Also the fact that he wanted to strip the engine down (turbo) to see actaully what the problem was as he didn't know.... Read more
Hello
I am hoping you can advise me on the following.
I recently paid 9k for a 2001 motorhome, when I went to buy the the road tax the police were called as the V5 was a forgery ,the police then came to my house and following vehicle checks it appears the vehicles identity had been changed and the original had been stolen, they then took it away for fingerprints etc.I had done all the usual checks an Experian autocheck with insurance upto 30k when you enter a vin number which I did I contacted them but they say under section 3 I cant claim on the insurance(rip off)
I assume it will be returned to the insurance company that would have paid the original owner when it was reported stolen.I watched a crime UK TV programme the other evening where a vehicles identity had been changed and originally stolen and then it was returned to the insurance company and the police officer said now the innocent purchaser will take the insurance company to court, but I didn't really understand which insurance company he meant is it mine who I insured the motorhome with remember I am insuring a vehicle that doesn't belong to me as the identity has been changed,or this it the insurance company who the vehicle will be returned to.Can you advise me of any other routes available to me.
thank you for your help Read more
Thank you Ethan, looks like the only hope is buying back from the insurance company, thats what I thought...and Sid if Grammer is my fault then I apologise but insurance does NOT mean fiance.
Having just read the problems people have had with the Ford C-Max I have now changed my mind on buying one, good job I read Honest John's site!. Does anyone know of a 1.6 diesel automatic MPV that is reliable. I have bad arthritus and am a pensioner.
Many thanks Read more
It may well have to be the 2.0 litre version but Kia Carens would fit the bill, proper auto too.
I have recently encountered problem after problem with my clio, and now am unable to start the vehicle.
The battery is perfectly fine as when starting the ignition it does turn over. The problem I have is the fact that my light constantly flashes which means that it doesn't recognise my key, but after a couple of attempts it turns into a solid light that doesn't fade. This still doesn't let me start my car, but does turn my engine over.
Does anyone else have this problem, if so, any idea on how to rectify this?
Thank you. Read more
I own the above car and would like an answer to a question. When I went on a journey to Lincoln last week I pressed the stalk on the dashboard to reset the trip meter to zero. Nothing happened. After the journey I looked up the handbook and it would appear my model does not have this particular facility. You have to have the onboard computer apparently which being only the second level model up mine does not have. I am puzzled as to why I still have a stalk in that case as it seems to be completely redundant.
I welcome an answer.... Read more
Thanks very much for that. I did hold it down for a few seconds and it worked. I couldnt have held it down for long enough.
Thinking of buying a mondeo but it only has one key. What is the best way to buy a spare?
Type of key can also depend on trim level and just remember-someone else will have the key to the car you're spending your hard-earned money on!
Hi
I've got a Oct 1999 Fiesta Mk5 1.25 Ghia. With the ignition off, if I open and then close the OSR door, when I close the door, the electric boot popper operates. Turn on the ignition, and do the same again, and everything as it should be and the popper doesn't operate. Ah, I thought, it's the door ajar microswitch. Changed it. The same. Ah, it's a faulty earth, feeding the voltage from the microswitch back up the earth lead to the boot popper. Cleaned up all the earths at the base of the A pillars and in the boot. The same. Ah, it must be a faulty GEM. Changed it. The same. Ah, it must be a stray screw through the loom somewhere, shorting the microswitch and the boot popper circuits together. Off came the sill trims, out came the fuse box. Inspected, peered, pulled, prodded and.... nothing. Still my boot pops every time I close the offside rear door with the ignition off. Potential other info is that the door ajar warning light in the console only comes on with the front doors, bonnet and boot, and the courtesy light only come on with the front doors, but I don't know if this is how it comes as standard (there are no conventional door jamb switches on the rear doors). Also tried replacing the boot alarm inhibit switch as, although the double locking fires correctly and the indicators flash twice, if I do this while sitting in the car and then wait 30 secs, the alarm doesn't sound when I try to open any of the deadlocked doors. In fact, except for the presence of the alarm horn in the boot, I wouldn't believe the car has an alarm - can't get any response out of it at all and it won't go into test mode by flicking the bonnet alarm switch 8 times in 6 seconds.
Now at wits end as have run completely out of ideas. Any ideas very gratefully received.
Cheers Read more
Hi All
Thanks for looking. It was the GEM. Bit the bullet and got yet another one from the breakers yard. Swapped it over and problem gone. Swapped it back and problem reappeared. So I swopped in the 'good' one back in and left it for a few days. However the whizzy variable wiper function doesn't work on this one......
does this model come with a pdf fitted like the 1.6 does?If so,should i avoid buying the 1.8 ghia ? Read more

Probably advisable as you have to remove the g/box anyway.

Returned to dealer who replaced clutch although strangely not the DMF.
Clunking noise is still present, now followed by slight rattle when moving up to 2nd gear....

these 307's have 3 different engine' codes Rhy-Rhs-Rhz..Any how if your turbo is whistling it's past it's sale by date. Your turbo boost solenoid valve is to your left standing in front of vehicle at the bottom of engine. Ifind the best way to check these is with a small vacuum gauge or vac pump check vac at input port side of valve engine idling reading should be approx 25/26 inhg ish then check vac at output side of valve check at Map sensor plug disconnected key on no 3 terminal has a 5v feed Terminal 1 earth terminal 2is signal return wire yo ecu. If you can back probe terminal 2 plug connected engine idling should show a voltage of approx 2.1v's when revved should show approx over 3 v's Regards Mickeybo
