Due to a new job I need a cheapo load lugger. W reg or younger, around £1000-£1500, must be an estate and a diesel.
Other than the usual choices of Astra/Focus, maybe a Mondeo if you get fleabay on a good day I have seen a few Vectra Estates and Laguna Tourers with fairly good specs and insurance isnt to bad, especially on Vectra. I have been reading the site and there seem to be a few issues around Vectra and Laguna reliabilty, so not sure whether to chance it or not. Anyone living with these cars? Are they more trouble than they are worth?... Read more

My comprehensivecar car insurance covers me for 90 days in the EU (both Comprehensive and the statutory Third Party). On contacting my insurance company (HSBC) about whether I could travel into Switzerland I was told it was not covered by my insurance.

On contacting my insurance company (HSBC) about whether I could travel into Switzerland I was told it was not covered by my insurance.Generally breakdown and health insurance policies seem to automatically include Switzerland since they have signed up to many of the principles without actually joining the EU.The small print of my policy lists all the other european countries but not Switzerland and the only advice I received from HSBC insurance was 'Sorry Switzerland is outside the terms and conditions of the policy'.
I am driving to Switzerland to visit my grandchildren in August and would welcome suggestions....

Hi there still dec iding whether to buy thismazda but we have also noticed that the TCS warning lights are permanently on and also the ABS and Brake system warning lights are also permanently on. Is this easy to sort or does it mean something more sinister. Could this be the problem as to why the battery has run down. Advice from someone please. Read more
many thanks for that will ask the garage to sort it and MOT it before I buy the car - could a bump cause a faulty wheel sensoy?? orwhat other reasons could it be but/ if it passes the mot then should it be safe to buy?? Like the car but obviously dont want to but a load of trouble - not sure if alarm bells should be ringing

I've noticed the coolant level on my Megane is below minimum.
It's service is due towards the end of the year but I know I should top the coolant up now. what do you reckon I should use? Distilled water or coolant - and if so, which coolant?

Bear in mind the offences may well have been committed - the lines and signs OK- but for a technicality in the use of the camera car (not approved equipment) the offender gets off. I am not phazzed that they don't write.
