You don't need additives in coolant unless you're trying to flush out gunk and you need a good solvent. Water is the best coolant there is-antifreeze is simply there to lower the freezing point and inhibit corrosion. Although antifreeze does raise the boiling point of water, it has a much lower specific heat capacity and heat of vaporisation than water and reduces cooling capability.
As a result of your endoresement of 'Sure Sell', I emailed them asking how to sell my car. They did not reply, so I telephoned them and gave them full details. They promised to call back the next day with a valuation, when we could proceed with the sale. A week later, I am still waiting. So, my opinion is that 'Sure Sell' is a bit of a washout. Are there any alternatives I could try? Read more
Sure Sell is only if you are desperate, there is something wrong with the car or you are very lazy.
Something like a Eunos will prbably struggle to £500 so after costs you may well end up paying them to sell it for you...... :)
I've been advised by my dealer that my new car has been stuck at Grimsby docks since the 18th of May due to a huge backlog of cars awaiting delivery?
I just wondered if anyone else has suffered this unwelcome news? According to my dealer thousands of cars are stuck there right now. Read more
It's 2 years on from the original posters problem, a lot has changed since then.
You should expect to only pay the price as per the order details. If delivery is longer than expected (as often tends to happen) then there won't be any extra to pay. It means your new car will be a 13 reg. rather than a 62 reg. which will help it hold it's value a little better.
Living in Grimsby may mean you receive the car a day or so earlier than someone living in say London but other than that it'll make no difference as much depends on the order the car is processed on/off the container ship and then again on/off the Grimsby docks.
Please do let us know when you receive your car, it's always good to hear about a new car delivery and how well the process proceeds between ordering to delivery.

Can anyone help me - just bought X Trail and having nightmare with child's car seat. We have a Maxi Cosi Rodi AP which, in theory, fits the car. I can't get it to go in right for love nor money, could it be because of leather seats? Does anyone have this or a similar model?
Thanks! Read more
Yeah. According to manufacturer's site it should fit, but no car seat just "sits in place", it obv depends on things like where the keepers for the seat belt sit (are they flush with the bench or on short straps) and the angle of the back of the seat. Also material covering seat makes a difference. Have had relevant help from users of another forum anyway, they actually had this problem too and were able to give first hand advice. Thanks anyway.
Hi
I've got blocked washer jets. I've tried high pressure air and water, sucking, blowing, swearing at it. Ignoring it. Surprising it. Nothing seems to be working.... Read more
Ditch the 2 jet 306 ones and get a set for a Xsara off ebay that throw a mist out, only about a tenner and don't clog up.
Have ordered a new car from a main dealer. Now waiting 6 weeks for delivery.
Part of the deal is a part-ex of my 7 year old car.
I've just removed the ipod adaptor from the factory fit stereo as it was something I'd bought seperately and installed.. and I can flog it for a few quid on eBay. Stupidly I disconnected the battery and now the radio is asking for a code which I don't have. It's missing from the manual & not marked anywhere on the actual headunit. Checked the 'get it off the internet' route with no joy. I can only get it from a dealer and he wants £25.... Read more
It shouldn't be a problem. I part-exed my old Ford and I'd replaced the radio with a DAB, so when I swapped them back it didn't work without the code. The dealer just said he'd phone Ford!
Brake sensor light came on recently as rear pads were worn. Had the pads and sensor replaced but the sensor light would only clear until the car moved away then come back on.
I took it back to the garage (national tyre, exhaust & brake chain, not BMW) and asked them to replace the sensor as I assumed this was faulty. They did this (and checked the front sensor which was fine with loads left on the pads) but the light won't even clear now.... Read more
"m pretty sure BMWs can take non OEM brake pads and sensors"
I wouldnt of mentioned it if they worked 100% I can assure you having worked in the industry for many years , that many BMW's warning lights will only respond to genuine pads and wires ! especially CBS models !...

this one does it whatver amount is in the tank
