Anyone know much about these? The Nissan dealer where I bought my Almera from also sells Suzukis and there are quite a few new shape Swifts and SX4s locally. ( I'm not keen on the current Nissan range at all). I did drive an old shape Swift as a courtesy car eight years ago and it was horrible, but seemingly the new models are light years ahead of the old Swift and the SX4 looks good. Read more

Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a Focus in 'Candy Red' - this is apparently a 'tri-coat' paint. My current car (a ford in 'Midnight Blue' metalic) looks fantastic even though it's getting on for 7 years old now [it is washed/waxed on a regular basis].... Read more

Article in the German press today states that the EU in Brussels have passed a new regulation to come into effect in 2013 which by todays prices would increase the price of diesel fuel by 79cents a litre,Because city air is getting dirtier its an effort to stop people using diesel fuel. Also being discussed is bringing the tolls for cars into effect here in Germany along with a speed limit on autobahns after the horrendous crash by Rostock. I think this is the newspaper article in question.
Looks like it's only proposed legislation, nothing has been passed....
My Bosch injection pump ceased to work on my 1988 Astra estate car and I have obtained a replacemt which I am assured was working when dismantled from a similar mode,l prior to scrappage.
The problem that I have is that I have never worked on a Vauxhall/Bedford diesel before and am working on memory from Ford diesel vehicles of the same type of period. I tend to remember that after aligning the timing marks on the pump sprocket and timing cover which I have done, I need to set the pistons at TDC before engaging in any further dismantlement of the pump. On the Ford models there is a screw plug where one can insert a pin in order to turn the engine until TDC is attained.... Read more

Hi folks, my tub of P21s polish is almost finished, (great polish) but it's now up to £40 a small tub !!! It's good but not that good. Done some searching in t'internet and there are some recipies. Looking at the P21 it's a mixture of carnauba wax and beeswax. Both are very hard waxes, but the shop bought is a very soft wax, I think there is some Lanoilin in there to soften it. The recipies on line mostly mention a mixture or carnauba and beeswax with the addition of proper turpentine. Anyone tried this? Anyone got any ideas? I feel some experiments on me. The waxes aren't that expensive to buy, the trick will be in the percentages of mixtures.
I have used "Pledge" on large areas of GRP for a short lived but dramatic improvement. Part of the bovine excrement that was expected of us :(
Hi all, My 57 Focus 1.6 petrol (duratec) has been acting a little odd lately. When stationary if I press the accelerator hard then I can hear a noise which I can only describe as the sound a brush drum stick makes on a drum and then a second later the engine begins to rev as usual. If I depress the accelerator slowly then it doesn't make this noise and the engine revs slowly but normally. The car idles fine if a little tappy but can be a little lumpy when driving slowly in first gear. Changing gear from 1 to 2 and to 3 can also be a little annoying as it seems that I am not giving enough gas although I am pressing the accelerator -the car will begin to pull a second after pressing the accelerator. I have always found the fly by wire accelerator a little quirky but this issue is now making driving the car a little irritating. The car has done about 46000 miles and is about 3.5 years old. Does anyone have any ideas what it may be before I take it in to a Ford s******? Many thanks Read more
I'm looking for a nearly new Mondeo at the moment and most of the suitable cars I am seeing seem to have 18" alloys and to add insult to injury this seems to be a selling point.
Given the state of our roads, the additional cost of these tyres and the rapidity of wear on lower profile tyres, why are the car manufacturers almost forcing these on us ?... Read more
My car runs on 15" alloy wheels. They seem to be a bit of a rarity these days, and they don't look as good on the car as the 16" or 17" rims would. But the compliancy the extra rubber gives is really handy on the pretty awful road surfaces I have to drive on. On dual carriageways tyre roar isn't an issue, and they performed much better in the snow this winter than an identical car with the low-profile tyres and bigger wheels. Win win!

I know this is a'gonna sound *really* stupid gord but, I wouldn't feel too happy about owning an Italian car :) yes' yes. I know they're made in the same factory in Hungary (and all that)
How's Mrs bennets C2 getting on? has the head gasket blown yet (I jest)...
