What age is your C5? There are 3 different systems in use in the C5. I presume being an Exclusive you have dual zone climate control.

On the early C5 with climate control, the common fault is the resistor pack breaking. If you adjust the controls for the fan speed, it may turn on at full speed, and then not at any other speeds. This is a £50 part and 10 minutes labour....

Hi - I'm having an intermittent issue which I'm hoping I may be able to get some insight into....

Ocacasionally when I start the car the accelerator while depressed does not increase the engine revs, it sits at idle ticking over. I'm able to select all gears and as it is an automatic I am able to move the car at the base level of revs, however I can't drive due to problem. Within a few mins of moving back and forth it seems to correct itself and everything is fine. I am however obviously concerned that at some point it will not correct and would like to address.... So driving down the hill to a tight corner, hit black ice and skid straight into the fence at the outside of the bend. One of the posts hit the passenger side of the number plate and has dented the metal bumper brace part behind the bumper, as well as smashing the fog light and plastic fog light covering and the grill covering.

Looks like its going to need a new front bumper (its not properly clipping in), metal brace part behind the bumper, and fog light.... Read more

Hi, i started to replace the radiator on my p reg peugoet 306 td 1.9 and managed to break the bottom hose connection to the radiator. I ordered a new one and it turned up today. My problem is that the notch on my new radiator and the one on the new hose only line uo in a way that the hose is sitting next to the main radiator tank and the only way to get the hose in the right position is to twist the hose itself which leaves a kink in the hose. Stupidly i didnt take note of the old hose on the old radiator before removal just took it all off. The notch on the old radiator is the same as the new but i no longer have the old hose. Could anyone help please as i am quickly loosing patience with this car!! Read more

having read reports on this web site about the Santa fe I decided to look @ UKcarbroker site recommended on here, so back on September 6th 2010 I ordered one & I was told 3Months wait OK, but early Dec was told it would be now early Jan 2011, in the mean time I sold my Xtrail in prep for new car, only to be rang on the 4th Jan to say my order was cancelled as I was going to pay for it with no finance,(they were told @ time of order) all of a sudden it appears they cannot do this so was told I would have to take out some finance & start my order again another 3 mths, deposit repayed to my account ok, but what a let down after 4mths wait, I certainly would NOT recommend this Site to purcase a new car Read more

Good IT systems don't make the delivery any quicker, but it helps customers know exactly when the car's going to be available - and more to the point, how far in advance to order the car.

With Vauxhalls you may have known within 24 hours what the schedule was but it took as long to get a factory order from GM Belgium as from Hyundai Korea....

I've just bought some replacement rear boot struts for my Focus.

I've yet to fit them as I'm surprised that I can't compress them by even the tiniest amount. If it's as though they are solid!... Read more

As an update.

Just put these rear struts on and it was dead easy (famous last words). The ones they replaced were just as solid, dispite the fact they they were not quite up to keeping the boot open.

I've a budget of around £13 - £14,000 and looking to buy something hopefully no older than 3 yrs.

I stay in East Kilbride, reasonably high up in Scotland and struggle badly in snow - have a 56 plate astra with 225/40/18 tyres at moment and when snowing can't get into driveway...that's if i make it into estate. Also, work shifts and find that sometimes coming home late, going out early road conditions not as good as they could be.... Read more

Given where you live a 4x4 with an extra set of winter tyres sounds a good idea to me. The Rav4 would be fine with the right tyres. Winter tyres are compulsory over here in the conditions that you drive in.

Hi. We have a V-reg Polo, which has been left standing since late November. It started ok today, which was a relief - and all seems and sounds ok, other than a lot of white smoke from the exhaust.

I let it idle for 20 mins, but the smoke kept coming. I then took it for a 10 minute run, pushing it up to 4,000 rpm up hills and it seems to have improved markedly.... Read more

Thanks so much for your response Peter.

What might be the costs to fix in either case?
