Hi all,

Drove down to SW England just before NYE. 25 miles from my destination my brakes completely went while in the process of braking. thankfully I had already slowed from 60 down to 35 when they failed, which gave me enough reaction time to avoid hitting the car in front- which was also braking and nearly at a standstill- by swerving onto the central reservation and doing a bit of off-road until the car finally came to rest.... "I suppose even if I can't claim the money back I should at least be advising the garage that they fitted something incorrectly that resulted in a dangerous situation."

Any garage worth their weight would want to know a situation has arisen and they should at least offer to pay your repair....

hey, first post on here and hope I can get help. My trouble started on 20th December after my car had been lying in the cold weather, without being started for 5days. Temps were always -5 or worse. The car turned over fine but would not fire up. Eventually got a mechanic to come tonight (6th January 11) and he managed to jump start it for about 30 seconds at a time, was running really lumpy for the few seconds and just cut out again. He thinks it may need a ford fault reader on it (?) Thing is, can't get it to a garage 'cos it doesn't actually run!!

Thanks everyone for your help. I will ask mechanic to check timing but, the car is now on Ebay as a non-runner :( I don't have much money to spend and would rather spend what I do have on another car than keep throwing money at this one. But, thanks again anyway.

I replaced the resistor as I read that allot of the time this could cause the problem, to no avail, the back heater is working fine, I am beginning to wonder if it may be the motor??? Now my next question is I've read various things about this and cant determine whether this is called a heater blower or a blower motor?? Can anyone help, also if you could please let me know if there is anyway to determine what the problem actually is?? My car has manual AC.. Many Thanks. Read more

The glow plug light on my 2006 focus 2.0 tdci only stays on for less than a second even in the coldest of mornings. It allways starts but takes a fair amount of turning over before it fires. I have also got a 1.8 tdci and the light stays on for up to 5secs and starts much better. Is this normal?? Read more

You will need to remove the door card and check the window mechanism.It is possible the cable drive system has failed/broken.hth

During the cold spell i have had to replace the fuse twice on my 59 reg vehicle. The dealer wanted to charge £17. On return to work 2 other owners have had a similar problem. Is your 308 failing in the same way? This could be a serious safety issue, so does anyone know a longer term fix? Read more

207 models seem to suffer the same problem.I usually increase fuse rating to 15amp (blue).hth

odds on there's an air lock in the system. Modern methods may vary but it used to be start ftom the top of the water system and loosen the hoses in turn releasing any air. You might get away with trying the highest heater hose first.

btw Especially if it's a diesel it can take 10 or more miles to warm up in the recent cold weather. During the recent very cold spell I drove 20 miles, albeit at less than 30 mph, and the temp gauge barely moved.

Right or wrong I reckon it takes 20 to 30 miles to properly warm up an engine in summer

At the same time I have noticed;
- Steering Lock fails to come on anymore.
- The Turn Indicators no longer flash to confirm that the interior alarm is on. However the alarm IS on, though the light in the button does not flash after 30 seconds of being locked (but anti-tow alarm light/button does immediately on locking, as usual).

What could this be due to? I've followed the manual to disable and re-enable both alarms.... Read more

Another thought.Do the interior lights work from front doors.Check the black plastic pin switches by door catch.I have seen these broken and cause problems with the locking system,hth
