Hyundai Santa Fe - UKCarbroker - kiters 62

having read reports on this web site about the Santa fe I decided to look @ UKcarbroker site recommended on here, so back on September 6th 2010 I ordered one & I was told 3Months wait OK, but early Dec was told it would be now early Jan 2011, in the mean time I sold my Xtrail in prep for new car, only to be rang on the 4th Jan to say my order was cancelled as I was going to pay for it with no finance,(they were told @ time of order) all of a sudden it appears they cannot do this so was told I would have to take out some finance & start my order again another 3 mths, deposit repayed to my account ok, but what a let down after 4mths wait, I certainly would NOT recommend this Site to purcase a new car

I have no experience of the company. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I would not have sold my existing car till I had the new one on my drive. Perhaps one of lifes hard lessons?

Ordered mine (from dealer) on 18th Nov, told none available until Jan, told 4 days later the spec/colour I wanted had become available and picked it up 10 days later.

Ordered from a dealer on 30th November, told late January.

This has now slipped because a few days bad weather in the UK has meant a delay of several weeks.

At present have no idea when Santa Fe is due to arrive, but dealer has agreed to hold the price of my P/X, so he's losing 200/month or so from February, but I have to tax my car from then too.

I would have expected a regular boat from Korea with various cars on it, and for hyundai UK to keep a small stock of cars in this country, but apparently neither of these is true.

As a consumer, I do not buy products I have to wait months for. Period.

If it was a RR or Bentley .. but a Hyundai?

So you have a new Santa Fe coming on Monday 17th?

This implies that it arrived early January to be PDI'd and transported up to the dealer. Early january into the UK was what I was originally told, but then told it was delayed due to bad weather.

I don't think that they ship many at a time. The shipment mine was on (late November) had about 50 on (or maybe that was 50 spare) of various colours and spec. The spec isn't overly complicated as the dealer fits things such as the sun roof.

I know that Hyundai have been caught with their pants down over the demand for the ix35 but even so, I have to agree with madf, I really don't like waiting months for a purchase to be delivered (unless it is wine). When I order a car, I want it within a couple of weeks.

Hyundai Santa Fe - UKCarbroker - Durelli_tyres

I'm now told my Santa Fe is built and awaiting shipment.

I wonder what Port they ship from to get to Tilbury?

Hyundai Santa Fe - UKCarbroker - Durelli_tyres

My car is now on a ship apparently, and as been for weeks.

However, no idea when that ship is due in the UK.

Apparently Hyundai UK are not letting dealers know when cars are due; other customers in same situation as me.

Got my Santa Fe online from BuyaCar. I waited12 weeks after thay had told me to expect 8 -10 weeks. I was told the car is built to order and no stocks are held here or abroad. As far as I know the engines go from Korea to Slovakia and the car is assembled there for export to the UK..

As you indicate I think the problem is with the dealer rather than Hyundai.

By the way, from my experience I'd say it will be worth the wait - excellent car and did a great job in the recent snow.

Hi,

I thought the Slovakia factory was just for European i30's.

Santa Fe are made in Korea and the US, I think the US factory makes em just for Canada and US, and Korea makes em for the rest of the world. But I could be wrong.

I don't really understand why they don't hold a small stock of cars in the UK, or why they are not pre-ordered, so there are always some at sea on their way to the UK.

And if everything is done to order, why can't they say my car is going to be built on a certain date, expected to be shipped on a certain date, arrive at Tilbury on this date, at the dealer by this date and delivered to me on this date? Obviously bad weather would move all the dates back.

I'm nearly half way through the month when my car was originally expected to be delivered and at present I have no idea when it will arrive. Could be Jan, Feb or March, which has the advantage of the new plate.

My tax and RAC membership run out on my current car at the end of this month though.

Holding a small stock doesn't work when customers buy them all! Certain versions of Santa Fe are in high demand, specifically automatics.

When I ordered in early Nov 2010 I could have had a manual in any colour but nothing in the supply chain for automatics so it had to be a factory order - delivered late Jan.

It's clear to me that Hyundai Motors UK doesn't have good IT systems - back in the late '90s I could place a factory order at a Vauxhall dealer and know within 24 hours where/when it was being built, shipped and delivered - 15 years later and a Hyundai dealer doesn't know when they'll receive it until it physically arrives.

The good news on Santa Fe is that the IX35 is even worse - they planned for 50,000 cars last year but took orders for 100,000.

Judging by all the posts on this site about late or deferred delivery (and other problems) with Hyundia/KIA vehicles, I'd advise anyone tempted by these dream machines, to instead give your business a more organised vehicle manufacturer who can make & deliver their cars in a reasonable timeframe!

Hyundai are organised, but it's a long way from Korea and they don't airfreight! I ordered my Santa Fe in mid-November against the salesman's 8-10 weeks projection for a factory order - I took delivery after 9 weeks.

Firstly RT, you say:

>>It's clear to me that Hyundai Motors UK doesn't have good IT systems - back in the late '>>90s I could place a factory order at a Vauxhall dealer and know within 24 hours where/>>when it was being built, shipped and delivered - 15 years later and a Hyundai dealer >>doesn't know when they'll receive it until it physically arrives.

>>The good news on Santa Fe is that the IX35 is even worse - they planned for 50,000 >>cars last year but took orders for 100,000.

..then in response to my post:

>> Hyundai are organised, but it's a long way from Korea and they don't airfreight!

So what's it to be then?

Hyundai Santa Fe - UKCarbroker - RT

Good IT systems don't make the delivery any quicker, but it helps customers know exactly when the car's going to be available - and more to the point, how far in advance to order the car.

With Vauxhalls you may have known within 24 hours what the schedule was but it took as long to get a factory order from GM Belgium as from Hyundai Korea.

If you've researched your next car purchase you know what brand and model you want, not a different brand/model that happens to be sat in an unsold stockpile.
