If I buy a new PHEV at more than £40k what will the VED be?

If I buy a plug in hybrid worth £46,000, how do I stand with road tax?

If you buy a new plug-in hybrid today costing £46,000, you will pay the first year's VED based on its emissions - this is £10 for cars emitting between 1-50g/km CO2, £30 for cars emitting 51-75g/km and £130 for cars emitting 76-90g/km.

Then from the second year to the sixth year you will pay the flat rate for alternative fuel vehicles of £170 plus the premium rate because your car cost over £40,000 when new, which means a total of £560 a year - assuming that VED rates aren't increased again within that period.
